I deleted Apache's Open Office and now everything is saved as a Word document which I no longer have. I have it set to save as an ODF . Please help!

I’m frustrated! How do I save a libreoffice text document AS a libreoffice text document?

You need to go to LibreOffice’s settings in the program, open the ‘Load/Save’ category on the left, choose a file format under ‘Default File Format and ODF Settings’ and what its default will be. For the record, Asus EeePC 900 that ran a joke of a Linux distro by default had ancient OpenOffice.org that defaulted to M$ formats, which is saved into a pure text file which Asus had modified.

Selecting what program your OS will open to work on a file is completely irrelevant.

EDIT: Also, you can choose the format you temporarily save as, under the ‘Save As’ window.
