Printing to the edge of a document

I am creating an A5 poster and I want an image to be used as the background with no margins.
I set the page size to A5, the margins to 0, inserted the image and extended it to fill the entire page.
Everything looks fine except when I print it there is still a margin.
I tried to increase the page size by adding the margin size but it doesn’t make any difference.
Does anyone know what the problem is? Thanks in advance.
I am using Version: 5.2.1.2.

BTW what’s happened to http://en.libreofficeforum.org, it seems to have disappeared?

The forum was taken offline by the owner some months ago, a pity. I can’t remember the exact reason, it had something to do with maintenance.

Are you sure your printer is able to print in “borderless printing”? Which printer do you use? Have you looked into the manual, whether the printer needs a special setting?

Thanks Regina, that was it.
I didn’t know the printer also had to be set for borderless printing.

Regina: please repost your comment as an answer, and LOman, please accept that answer.

I’ve hit a snag!
I am now doing 2 A5 documents side by side on A4 normal paper (2 columns).
When I select borderless printing it warns me normal paper is not recommended (I select it anyway) but when it comes to printing, it changes the paper size to a letter (11.0in. x 8.5in.) which falls short of A4 width by about 5/8ths in.
This may be nothing to do with LibreOffice but the printer driver (Canon iP4850).
I’m contacting Canon support.

I think it’s almost certainly a printer issue documented here but for a different printer:
http://ugp01.c-ij.com/ij/webmanual/PrinterDriver/W/MX920%20series/1.0/EN/PPG/Dg-c_borderless.html

Canon replied. Updated printer driver and A4 borderless works OK now.

FWIW: Contrary to my first answer, A5 didn’t work borderless but after reporting it to Canon they say that the printer isn’t designed to print A5 borderless.

Hey Loman
I think you are trying to do border less printing and facing issue in it. The first option to fix the issue that your printer did by automatically changing the size of page is update the drivers. Check your driver update at update it. Now run border less print test with new drivers if again any problem comes then use Canon iP4850 Manual for support.
