How do I add an image to a table?

Ok, this USED to be as simple as dragging and dropping the image or going through the insert menu and grabbing the image. NEITHER work anymore. No matter what I do, it adds the image into the document (usually annoyingly enough it adds it in the right position but apparently ABOVE the table). How do I get the image to STAY IN THE CELL?!?!? It’s been driving me nuts!! No matter what I do, it just pasts the image OVER the cell instead of inside it.

I’m using writer (which apparently NO ONE ON GOOGLE USES because I couldn’t even find help the normal way, by googling it).

My goodness I have horrible luck with this stuff today! While posting this it insisted on confirming that I’m human by asking me to select images in spanish. I really had to strain my brain to remember my high school spanish and barely figured out what it was asking me (aside from “select an image”).

Well that was frustrating to no end… I SORT OF figured it out. I can anchor it as a character which kind of fixes the problem except does this mean I have to do this for EVERY image I load in? I have like 30 images I need to work with!!

This gets the image to behave the way I’m used to at least.

[UPDATE] sigh the anchoring thing only worked once and for some reason only worked with the one image. I just tried with another image and it refuses to anchor into the cell I keep trying to put it in and it wont let me drag and drop it.

Perhaps it might help if you take break, kick back, and relax for a while. Then when you come back, things might look a little bit different and easy.

Btw, what you wrote isn’t the answer, and so is better placed as “comment”.

Oops!

Weirdly enough, I only had this problem for a day or two and now it’s back to normal.

Wondering what platform (Windows, Linux, etc) and what version of LO you are using?

I am using Windows 10 and LO version 5.2.3.3 64-bit

In a new Writer document I created a table then tried inserting with the insert image dialog and also by dragging and dropping. Both worked just fine. Default anchor was “to Paragraph” but “to Character” and “as Character” worked as well.

???

Windows 10 on a toshiba laptop LO version 5.2.0.4

It’s odd because I don’t remember having this problem before and I’ve been using this same machine for months and as far as I know nothing else has changed. I kind of managed to make it behave but it’s still a few more steps than I remember taking before when I was doing this.

Thank you for your answer. I was having the same problem. I switched the image to “Anchor As Character” and it worked. Thank you for saving me loads of time searching for the answer.
