Table of Contents not allowing formatting to items

I’m new to LibreOffice writer, so still learning here. I am trying to format styles to TOC heading and level 1 and 2 items in the Styles tab of the dialog box that shows when you click to insert a table of contents. I can edit the heading just fine, with whatever style I want. However level 1 and 2 items are stuck with Adobe Garamond Pro bold font with 12 pt. And no matter how I try to change its style (before inserting TOC, after inserting, using several styles, defining new ones, etc) it just won’t go. The only way is to manually change them. But I find manual changes really cumbersome and annoying. Can anyone please help me with this? Thank you.

Strange, you should be able to change the font for the Content 1 and Content 2 styles to anything you like. Please upload a sample file, so we can have a look.

Sorry for the late reply floris. Here is an example file:
report.odt

Okay, there’s something wrong with that file, even when I copy the content to a blank file, delete the TOC and enter a new one, it still sets the font to Adobe Garamond. A copy and Paste as unformatted text removed it. Did you start this file in Word or did you save in .docx format? You do have a lot of direct formatting in that file (applied font from toolbar instead of modifying the paragraph style). That’s bad practice.
