How do I span a cell across several columns (or rows)?

Click and drag to select the cells you want to combine. With the cursor inside the selected cells, right click and choose "Merge Cells" from the context menu.

  • Thanks w_whalley for your quick reply * I actually stumbled into the answer when mouse-overing the icons at the top of the calc page * I used > choose a cell and hold down the shift key and select an end cell * I'm sure your method works too * "Merge Cells" is a good name for it ; I was just using an older terminology (spanning) and couldn't find it in the manual *
