Writer / Style does not take bold, sometimes even font, into account

Hi,

I am using LibreOffice 5.1.6.2 ; I’ve had the same problem with a previous 4. something version that I replaced with the current one in the hope it would solve my problem, which it did not.

In order to convert texts into EPUB format, I am trying to fully format them with styles, so as to specifically avoid using direct formatting options that would mess up with export to XHTML.

However, when I modify any style to force the font to bold or italic (or any other font style parameter, within one specific selected font), although I save the modification it is never taken into account in the display. If if later re-open the style parameters, it still shows the desired font style (for instance bold), so the intended parameter is indeed registered. But not taken into account.

I have a similar problem with the style relative to the text of footnotes, but in that case, I cannot even get the font itself to change according to my choice in the corresponding style’s parameters.

Thanks a lot if you can provide me with solutions or clues…

(disclaimer : I am not familiar with terminal, command line, system files, and so on…)

Are you using a special font that may not have boldface?

Same problem in version 5.3.6.1. If I highlight a block and apply the style, everything else except the Font gets applied. If I then simply set the Font manually to the same selected block, everything is perfect. This seems a pretty blatant bug to have existed for so long without a fix.
