Corrupted file won't open in 5.2.5.1. Crashes the program every time. How can I fix it?

It gave some sort of error before it crashed the first time but is not supplying any information now, just crashes Calc every time I try to open it. I’m working in Windows 10. Created the spreadsheet using 5.2.2.2 and hoped that upgrading it might fix the problem, but nope. Desperately need this file back. A TON of work went into it. Am willing to pay for assistance if necessary.

Well, first of all - you need to provide the file. I hope now your karma allows to attach here.

My file exceeds max file size for attachment here. It’s about 25% bigger than the max. I appreciate ANY help anyone can provide! I can save it to a location on Google Drive and share it with an email address, or I can email it directly. Whatever you like.

You may either share or directly mail to mikekaganski@mail.ru

What are the exact words of the error message?

1 Try AOO - it often opens faulty files LO will not open.

2 upload the file somewhere (mediafire, Google drive, Dropbox etc) so someone can look at it.

see [Tutorial] Fixing .docx files with SAXParse error at [Tutorial] Fixing .docx files with SAXParse error

That tutorial only deals with .docx files… this one is a .ods … I had a lot of conditional formatting going on and the file got relatively big. I’d really appreciate it if someone wouldn’t mind taking a look. If that works, please give me an email address and I will save/share it!

PS the error only showed once for a second or two and then crashed. The error no longer shows: the program crashes first.

I have been able to successfully open the received file without any problems both with 5.3.0.3 x64 and 5.2.5.1 x64.

The problem could be with corrupted profile. Please try to reset the profile (see https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile, or use new Safe Mode feature in 5.3).

Alternatively, there may be a problem with memory. The file is rather large, and esp. consumes much memory at opening (tested with task manager) - after load, the used memory size decreases. So, possibly you hit the limit which 32-bit LibreOffice can handle? (You didn’t mention your program bitness.) So, my advise is to try using 64-bit LibreOffice.
