How to load oly a subset of the LibreOffice Suite is not shown on help 'download;' instructions. Can this be shown for Windows and Gnu/Linux systems.

It makes absolutely no sense. The matter is that LibreOffice is sort of a monolithic program. Calc, Writer, Impress etc. are just front-ends to common components. In fact, you can omit installing them, at least under GNU/Linux, but it only will reduce the total size by a couple of hundreds of kilobytes.

Historically LO/OOo were installable in pieces on Window$, but it wasn't exactly useful, and later it didn't work at all so it was removed. I'm looking at LO PPA's x64 package listing, and you're about correct about the space savings; in fact the separate modules aren't installable separately as long as the libreoffice package is installed due to its dependencies.
