Video goes missing from Impress

Hello all,

I am trying to make a presentation with Impress and I want to insert a small video that will loop on a slide. The video file is an mp4 which works great when I insert it and try it out. The problem is that when I save the presentation and then close it, the video will dissapear after I open it again. It is like wasn’t even inserted.

What is going on?! I am using version 5.3. I was glad what it was working because I first tried PowerPoint and it was even worse!

What was the format of presentation saved?

it was pptx because i need it to run on powerpoint too… seems like the same thing as the link you provided, only I my case it was mp4 and not avi

Sooo other than this bug report from 2012 am I to understand that everyone using impress for presentations have given up using videos in presentations? or is there a workaround?
