Go 'Tools' > 'Options' > 'LibreOffice Calc' > 'View' > 'Visual Aids' > 'Grid lines:' and select 'Show on colored cells'. (Read: 'Show aslo on colored cells'.)

I opened an excel file with already colored cells. However when remove the color or set it to white, there's still no grid. Grid works with other colors though.

Found a solution, needed to highlight the cells, right-click and choose clear direct formatting (not sure of the English translation)
