How to edit CSV files exported from GenSoft Money Works?

Can someone assist me? I need to be able to edit CSV files exported by GenSoft Money Works just to be able later to import them again for the needs of the program. I can supply an exported file for examination. And I’m willing to donate course

Please do share a sample file, e.g. by a link to shared resource.

Presumably you have LibreOffice? Have you tried opening the CSV files in Calc - you can then edit them and save as CSV file.

Certainly I have. I do open the file, but instead of fluently display it the LiebreOffice suggests some kind of Import and asks for Character set, Language and many other parameters. My assumption is that after importing it this way the csv type signature is somehow changed beyond comprehansion for the purpouses of import later in the GenSoft Money Works program. Do please take a look. image description

Well, did you check this assumption? Of course, importing and exporting CSV needs careful operation, and by default the export part may cause troubles, because you need to match export setting to import ones to generate compatible output. Be sure to check Edit filter settings in “Save As” dialog and edit export settings as well.

I am not sure I understand you but I checked the options in LiebreOffice and now have the impression that you forgot that I only export from a program. My problem consists of the fact my format specific file being imported by the Liebre Office instead of the Office being able to open it as it is and preserve the format structure for editing.

CSV is a format that allows different representation in file. It may use different separators, encodings, etc, and they are not easily deduced from the file contents itself. That’s why an import dialog is required, where you help LO to properly import the file.

But it is not enough to “preserve format structure” on saving. E.g., on the screenshot you’ve provided, you have checked Tab, Comma and Semicolon as separators. So, which of them to use on export? You need a separate export setup.

It can be deduced from the data. Just try out different options according to what the preview looks like.

I meant it cannot be deduced by LO, that’s why it needs your help.
