Hi, I’ve just started using Libre 5.3.0, and every some time (a couple of times in a minute), the CPU usage jumps and Writer freezes for a couple of seconds. Is that a known issue?
Ok, Next idea. Are you sure it’s LO slowing down your CPU, as it might also be something else, even a driver. What OS and have you looked at the list of processes?
An inherent problem on Window$. There are too many possible causes, and usually the only way to “fix” it is OS reinstall; I know for a fact that using BitTorrent is a sure way, which doesn’t bother today’s Linux.
If it’s a driver issue, it’s commonly a version designed for older Window$ and the current Window$ doesn’t fully like it, in which case the only ways are using the designated Window$ version or upgrading the hardware component in a desktop and a new laptop and similar.

… Corruption in the HDD/SSD is one culprit for some types of slowdowns. Reinstallation of the affected software, or even the OS potentially doesn’t fix it but it’s worth the try after running chkdsk /V /B X:
where X
is the drive letter.
Malware is one option, but not everything is caught even if you used every software there is, in which case OS reinstall is the only fix.
Window$ and drivers themselves are well known to just start breaking down on its own. Yet again OS reinstall.
