Pasting Calc data in Writer as Calc link

Hi,
Is it possible to do the above (i.e. mimic Excel functionality)?

A Calc object can be embedded but this doesn’t create a link so updating is impossible (I have Word files linking to a couple of source spreadsheets-it would be great to shift all this to Writer if possible.

Thanks.

I should clarify: Excel paste special-linked worksheet object can function as an updatable WYSIWYG Excel image, whereas DDE only links selected Calc data (any other object in the cell range is ignored) and a new table is also embedded in Writer.

Using Menu/Edit/Paste special - DDE

@mariosv: What does DDE stands for and what is the functionality behind it?

Dynamic Data Exchange (wikipedia page). A horrible old Microsoft method of linking data.

@oweng - Thanks for clarification. Looking at the wikiepedia article it really appears to “horrible old”.
