I am coming from powerpoint world and there was a useful feature there which might be also in Libreoffice impress but I cannot find it: I would like to connect persistently a line to an object so that when I move the object around the slide, the line also moves and keeps connected to the object. Right now, if I connect a line to a square object, if I move the square some cm up, the line is not following that movement. Therefore, the line is not connected in any way to the square object.

Is that available in Impress?

Yes, it is possible, you need a "connector". Have a look at the drawing toolbar. There you see not only an icon for lines but an additional icon for Connectors. When you hover the icons, you get tooltips. In this case you get "Connector". This icon has a little triangle to open the sub-toolbar which has got 12 kind of connectors. Draw/Impress is more powerful than Impress in this case, because it has simple lines and paths and has connectors in addition.
