A Bondoni ornament, or any other ornament for that matter. Bondoni Ornament is just one example because it does appear as a recognized font family in LibreOffice. Never mind I solved the problem, but it might be helpful to others. In a Mac, I selected the special character (the omega icon) and choose the font family and up a grid of them popped up, I selected one (click) and used the Insert button. Voila, it popped into the document where I last let the cursor. The scaled looked to be the point size of the text, I guess.
