Writer: copy/paste table formats

I have a table with rows formatted as follows:

First row has two columns, with a solid top border

Second row has one column (merged the original two columns), with a solid bottom border.

I want to replicate this format many times in my table. However, I can’t figure out how to do this without manually setting the formats on each individual row. If I insert a bunch of empty rows, then copy/paste from the formatted rows into the new blank rows, then only the text is copied.

How can I copy rows in a table, retaining the columns and border formatting?

The simplest way may be to copy/paste the first table where you want other tables, then you overwrite the first content.

In order to copy a table with its formatting, use your mouse to move the cursor in the left margin where it turns into a heavy horizontal arrow (full iine selection), then holding down the left mouse button, select as many lines in the table as you need, Cntl+C and Cntl+V where you need the table.

If this is the answer you expected, please check the tick mark at left and upvote it if you’re satisfied.

Thank you for your answer. But I need all the rows in a single table. I can copy the two rows from within my table to a new table, but I need, say, 50 rows in one table with the alternating row format that I described.

I figured it out. I have to copy my two rows into several new tables, remove the space between the tables, and then Merge. I would still prefer to be able to paste row formatting, but this meets my immediate need.

The trick above allows for whole table selection when you drag the mouse across all rows.

I tried this with 6.0.3.4 under OS X with merged columns for the second row. As the original questioner stated, the trick with the heavy horizontal arrow does not work. Instead of copying over the merged row, it takes the contents of the merged row and duplicates it in each of the cells of that row. I’d like to echo Joe’s request to address this issue.
