Why do my labels show field names instead of data?

I have used the label wizard to produce labels, the database is visible, field names inserted OK. However, on printing all I get are the field names! No data. I note that the “Execute” button doesn’t exist and Ctrl-E just centres the names.
Any ideas please?

Have you tried confirming the connected database by re-selecting the EXCHANGE DATABASE - see here? (The data-source for the merge fields must be the same as the exchange database setting.)

Hi @kevjon,

We’ll need some more information to help you out, including the version of LO you’re running.

Actually, please grab the latest release and let us know if that solves your problems.

@kevjon – Still looking for an answer here?

Maybe this would help : I had the same trouble when printing INDIVIDUAL documents, and it doesn’t happen when I print a single documents

After you created the document containing labels, you have to “fill” the fields with data from the data source. Assuming you use the Windows version of LibreOffice, you can press F4 to open the Data Sources view. Alternatively, you can open this view from the toolbar or the View menu. In the Data Sources view, find the data source and table you want to use (this must be the same as you used in the wizard to create the labels so that the fields match), select the rows you want to use in your labels and click the Data to Fields button.

You can select a row by clicking the gray ‘column’ left of the first data column, holding Ctrl and clicking to select multiple (separate) rows, holding Shift and clicking to select consecutive rows or clicking the gray rectangle left of the header row to select all rows. On Mac, you should use Cmd instead of Ctrl.
