AutoCorrect while typing off but autonumbering still active

I am running Version: 5.1.6.2 Build ID: 1:5.1.6~rc2-0ubuntu1~xenial1. I used auto numbering editing a .docx document, but now want to prevent any further automatic numbering of my text. I turned off autocorrect while typing, but the auto numbering ‘option’ is still active. For example, I am in a numbered paragraph and I hit return and then new paragraph is numbered and the later ones’ numbering is adjusted upwards by one.

This behavior persists even if I reset my user settings to the default values. Posts for OOffice 4.2 suggest there should be a ‘numbering’ option in the AutoCorrect Options window, but I do not see any.

Can anyone help me solve this annoying problem?

That’s normal behavior. When autonumbering is already turned on for a paragraph, if you press Enter at the end of that paragraph Writer will insert a paragraph with the same paragraph style and paragraph formatting, including numbering. But if you are in a paragraph without autonumbering enabled, and type “1.[tab]some text” and press Enter, autonumbering will not be applied once the option is turned off in AutoCorrect Options.

So how do I deviate from this ‘normal’ behavior and turn the autonumbering off within a paragraph and/or document with multiple such paragraphs?

Turn off numbering for that paragraph.
