Calc "numbering add-in" [closed]

(LO on Ubuntu 12.04.)

When trying to open an xls created in Excel 97 (but recently saved in Excel 2007), a pop-up window appears that reads

The numbering add-in must be loaded for optimal numbering and toolbar behavior. Please load this add-in into your library directory.

Where is that add-in? My Google-fu seems lacking.

I just googled the whole error message you gave, and I found the following:

Looks like some kind of template/add-in is needed to open this type of file. The file may be named "TMPLTNUM.XLA"

Per these sites, the add-in was included in older versions of Excel (Excel 2000?), but is not included in new versions of Excel by default.

Here's more from Microsoft:

Unfortunately, it looks like XLA libraries are not directly compatible with LibreOffice, so you'd probably need to re-write something with equivalent functionality (i.e. the same API):
