LibreOffice keeps freezing on me in Mac OS X Sierra and I'm sick of it! How can I solve this?

Every time I jump between apps, LibreOffice freezes on me and I have to wait 5-10 minutes or long just to get back to my project! I am using Mac OSX Sierra, and I have grown tired with this issue! PLEASE HELP!

I have same problem - when multiple docs open, when switching between apps, LibreOffice freezes for 30 secs at least.
I’ve seen a fair few posts on this forum complaining about this issue - Google turns up 161,000 results for libreoffice freezes: libreoffice freezes - Google Suche - Perhaps some Libreoffice dev can provide some info on submitting a memory dump for diagnosis ?

Try Apache Open Office.

See, that’s the problem. I am a graduate student and my teacher has strict requirements about using Libre Office.

(S)he won’t know as you will be supplying .odt files. That is the whole idea behind International Standards - it does not matter which application you use as long as it meets the standard. AOO does

Just be aware that you cannot save as a .docx with AOO, and AOO does not support MS Word Textboxes. Everything else will be fine.

@JohnHa try switching to diagnosing and solving the problem.

  1. Try resetting your LO profile by renaming the folder: LibreOffice user profile - The Document Foundation Wiki

  2. Next try running filesystem checker on your partitions: https://www.howtogeek.com/236978/how-to-repair-disk-and-file-system-problems-on-your-mac/
