The problem is that user had to keep press ENTER to move the cursor down, something must be added say a ‘doubleclick’ such when it is done the cursor gets the position of the pointer
This feature is called “Direct cursor”. You can enable it using menu: Tools>Options>LibreOfficeWriter>Formatting Aids. There is a choice of four different variants of this feature.
