Insert > Hyperlink > Internet. Now insert the link. It works when saving as a .odt or a .doc.

Never save files as .doc files

Always save files as .odt files - see [Tutorial] Differences between MS Word (eg .doc and .docx) and LO files (eg .odt) for the reasons.

To be specific: always save as the native OpenDocument Format specific to the used module, then save in whatever other format you please.
