Pdf field in base database

I have a fairly complex form for database entry of data. I am using a split database. I have four fields that I’d like to add that are pdf documents and I’d like to see them appear on the form much like a photo would. The image of the pdf on the form can be shrunk down to scale within the boxes I have on the form for these four fields. I thought by adding the four fields as Photos that would work but when trying to add data to the field “PDF” doesn’t show up as a selectable file type. I could convert the pdf to jpg, but was wondering if a pdf could be put into a field.

UPDATE:
Here’s a few screen shots showing the set up of the form and database:
rotormansaThis is the data type for the four fields I want to add the pdf files to.doc

I am using version 5.2.6.2 (x64) on a Windows 7 64-bit platform.

I unhide the known file types in the windows environment and PDFs still are not showing up in the pick list.

Not sure where or what is causing your problem.

Current test with split DB shows no problem inserting a PDF in an image control, whether it is saved as a BLOB or a link to the PDF. When entering the item and the Image Selection dialog displays, there was no restriction ( pre-selected) on .png, .img, .pdf etc.

Please provide more information about system, LO version (LibreOffice or distro if Linux), what control you are using, saving method (Blob, link).

Unfortunately, it appears I don’t have an answer for you. Having given up on Windows for some time now and moving to Linux, the only way for me to check was to go to an old SLOW Vista system I have in the closet.

Setting up a base file (had LO v5.3.03 installed) for this, I basically ran the above test here and when selecting an image to insert I got:
image description

which as you can see includes .pdf files. With this I had no problem inserting a PDF document.

It may be possible the extension is hidden. Please see this post - click here.

Updating to 5.3.3.2 (x64) now has PDF in the pick list. Perhaps this is a new file type that is supported. Thanks for assistance, the screen shot from the 5.3.03 running Vista sealed the deal for me and I updated to 5.3.3.2 and all is good.

Yes, it’s new in 5.3: see release notes.
