I have a graphic with images and some vector elements created in Draw. I grouped them together and pasted the group into writer. I have anchored the group as Character. But I am unable to increase the size of the graphic beyond a particular size although the page is larger. There seems to be a height constraint. If i change the anchoring to something else I can increase the size beyond this limit. Can anyone let me know why this si happening and how to get around it withoug changing my anchoring type.

Hi Regina,

Here is a file with the problem. I am currently exporting as svg and pasting these svgs to avoid another problem I am facing. I have explaind the problem in the file. You think a bug report would be helpful here? I am not sure if this is standard behaviour. So could also be a feature enhancement if not a bug. Also I noticed Drop caps behaviour when special characters are used. Mentioned it in the file.

I anchor the group "as character" because i can then easily apply center alignment to it. and in my Cse much easier to control the image from flying around when i use other types of anchor.

The area, which can have text, is restricted to about 115cm width in Writer, Draw can handle up to 300cm width.

If you anchor the image "as character" and set the line height to a fixed value, then the image gets cropped to this fixed line height.

I do not know other limitation.

Why do you anchor the group "as character"? Would it work for you, if it were not anchored "as character"?

Are your images linked? Which is the original size of the image?

[edit after getting the example] Handling of groups is restricted, in case the group is anchored as character. I consider this to be a bug.

To solve your problem: Change the anchor to e.g. "to character" or "to paragraph". Then you can resize the group by dragging with the mouse or in the Position&Size dialog. Remember to check "keep ratio", if you use the dialog.

You do not need "as character" to center the group. If it is not anchored as character, you will find the horizontal alignment enabled in the Position&Size dialog and you can choose "center" there. Tip: Do not position drawings or images using the mouse. That will always change the alignment to "From left" and "From top" and breaks special alignments like "center" or "right".
