How do I get old saved microsoft documents to open? Just clicking them doesn't work. Thanks!!

Start LO, in the Start screen click the Open button, navigate to your old documents, click on them and click open. If LO can read them, they will open.

Second option in Windows: RIGHT-click the document, select "Open With..." and select LibreOffice from the list that pops up.

I don't know which OS you are using.

I use MS XP SP2 and now SP3. I can opened files the way described by horst or just double clicking on the files. However, for double clicking you must have set the relevant options in LibO:

tools / options / load&save / microsoft office

and check all 8 boxes
