2013-12-18 10:20:40 +0100 asked a question Some "Find and Replace" questions

Hi, I have a few basic technical questions about using "Find and Replace" in LibreOffice:

  1. Is it possible to delete all text in a document that use a specific character format (like font size and/or bold)? How do you do it?

  2. When doing Find and Replace, how to you search for characters that follow or are followed by a carriage return?

  3. When doing Find and Replace, how do you insert a carriage return before or after certain characters?

If anyone knows, thanks!

This was great and thanks! Here is a further issue along similar lines:

The previous answer was great and thanks! A further issue, related but different. I need to add a snippet of text before yet another kind of formatting:

A document has some of the text has characters in a shade of green. When I look at Font Effects it shows me that color and indicates it is color "User". Beyond that I cannot figure out how to indicate it in Find and Replace. Is there a way?

Thanks so much!

How is it possible to do the following in Writer:

  1. Find paragraphs with specific formatting (specifically those that start with "Increase Indent"). This is an existing function.

  2. For each such paragraph, add an identical snippet of text at the beginning using "find and replace all". So far, trying to add any text just seems to replace the entire paragraph!

2012-04-06 14:00:19 +0100 asked a question Direct desktop shortcut for Writer in Windows

Hi, the latest versions of LO install a general LO 5 desktop shortcut when installed in Windows. The older versions installed a shortcut that goes directly to Writer, at least when I installed them. I would like to do the same for the new installations, and assume there is a way to do so.

Does anyone know how?

2012-03-18 22:38:53 +0100 answered a question Recent Documents still not working in 3.5.1

I had exactly the same problem both after installing 3.5 and 3.5.1 on a Windows 7 computer: There are never any "recent documents" no matter how many you have opened. It is very frustrating.

This is one of the reasons I went back to LibreOffice 3.4.5 (the other being crashes).

However, I did notice something interesting (and even more frustrating!) that may provide a clue about the problem: When switching back to 3.4.5 it lost "recent documents" as well!!

2012-02-18 17:45:42 +0100 asked a question LibreOffice 3.5 Writer crashes when making PDF

Hi, I have been using LibreOffice since the start, almost exclusively Writer. I usually produce PDF versions of the texts I write after I finish them.

I installed LibreOffice 3.5 on a Windows 7 computer soon after it became available, and since then the program crashes every time I press the button to create a PDF.

The texts I produce are relatively short (average 20 pages) and simple (few if any graphics, tables, etc.).

In the meantime I have gone back to LibreOffice 3.4.5, which did and still does work fine with no glitches or crashes.
