2012-06-02 18:57:21 +0200 answered a question why Libre does not provide a search by content

Hi there,

first of all, this is rather out of LibreOffice's scope as there are a multitude of search systems that are used by the various distributions and operating systems. E.g. Mac OSX uses spotlight etc...

That having said, Ubuntu provides for example the "tracker" indexer, which is supposed to be able to parse and index OpenDocument (OASIS) files. See https://live.gnome.org/Tracker/SupportedFormats.

2012-06-02 18:19:53 +0200 answered a question can't install 3.5.1 get error

This means that you Linux distribution did not offer the libobasis3.5-en-US package. Did you download things locally, or are you trying to install things via a Linux package manager? You will have to give a little more context to help us answer this one.

Usually, I'd say, update you package repositories and retry :)

2012-06-02 18:15:50 +0200 answered a question Export to HTML without navigation bar.

If you want everything on one page without navigation bar, you can export a slide show as "XHTML" and not as "HTML (Impress)" document. This will put everything on one page.

2012-06-02 18:02:22 +0200 answered a question Implement font embedding

You will be happy to hear that fonts can be embedded when you export documents as .PDF files, which should be the exchange format of choice for read-only docs anyway.

Other than that, this request (not a question :-)) is a duplicate of this question which has excellent answers and comments.

Unfortunately that is not something that is stylable. What exactly is it that you dislike?

2012-06-02 17:52:16 +0200 answered a question Need smaller runtime version of Libre Office

I can recommend Libreoffice as a Portable App from http://portableapps.com/de/apps/office/libreoffice_portable.

Currently they offer:

Libreoffice 3.5.4 for Windows, Multilingual
144MB download / 245-480MB install size

It's not exactly small, but it does fit on all current USB sticks.

Is this what you had in mind?

2012-06-02 17:49:11 +0200 answered a question Calc file won't open by double-click

What you could do it to load it into the online ODF file validator to see if it is a valid OpenDocument File or if Excel botched the export.

The validator is at: http://odf-validator.rhcloud.com/.

2012-06-02 17:44:34 +0200 answered a question Does LibreOffice recognize Postcript fonts?

The best answer I found is unfortunately a German Wiki. In case you can read German, I recommend this page.

2012-06-02 17:40:26 +0200 answered a question how can i install other truetype fonts

Unfortunately you don't say what operating you use. But this is how you add Fonts to Libreoffice:

Windows:

  • Add fonts to C:\Windows\Fonts (or C:\Windows\fonts if that exists)
  • Add fonts via the Control Panel

Linux:

  • Best to install them via your package manager system wide. See eg. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Fonts
  • try to install fonts into a ".fonts" folder in your home directory

If fonts don't show up after a LibO restart, it might be that the font format is not supported. Here is a list of supported font types (in German).

2012-06-02 17:21:51 +0200 answered a question libreoffice crashes on save as xlsx

Hi there,

this is something that you should be reporting as a bug on https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/bug/

Ideally, you should attach the document that causes the crash or another test case, together with information on your system and version number.

2012-06-02 17:18:30 +0200 answered a question LO 3.5.2.2 doesn't find italic/cursive text?

Indeed, it does not seem to work right now (3.5.3.2). I added a comment to https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47791.
