2017-05-15 17:27:19 +0100 marked best answer Delete index entry marks for all similar texts in document?

I created an Alphabetical Index in my document that contains the word "weather." I select one instance of the word "weather" and do {Insert > Table of Contents and Index > Index Entry}. I check "Apply to all similar texts" and click "Insert." LO Writer "automatically marks all other occurrences of the selected text in the document" and, in total, finds 91 instances of the word "weather" (both "weather" and "Weather") to mark and gives the appropriate information to the Alphabetical Index.

Later, I realize I made a mistake and want to delete the "weather" entry from my Alphabetical Index. I can place my cursor in instance 1 of 91 of marked word "weather" and do {Edit > Reference > Index Entry} and click "Delete." Unfortunately, this leaves instances 2 - 91 of marked word "weather" in the Alphabetical Index.

How can I quickly remove all 91 marks [or index-related fields] from all 91 instances of the word "weather" in my document so "weather" is no longer in the Alphabetical Index without manually placing cursor in each of 91 instances of marked word "weather"? To be explicit, solutions that involve creating a new Alphabetical Index or manually changing the displayed index are not solutions.

Thanks

2016-09-24 16:56:58 +0100 asked a question Black toolbar

After upgrading from Ubuntu 14.04 to 16.04, my LibreOffice toolbars are "black" which makes it very difficult to see the icons, particularly with icon style, "Breeze."

I have tried renaming the registrymodifications.xcu file and renaming the /home/<user name="">/.config/libreoffice/4/user (LibreOffice 4 & 5) folder. Neither solved the problem.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks.

2015-10-02 19:20:10 +0100 asked a question Insert symbol of binary independence between Y and X in Libre Writer

There is a symbol that means "Y is independent of X" that I want to put in a formula in Libre Writer. I see that I can say "Y is orthogonal of X" [Y ortho X] but I do not want that symbol.

How may I find this binary independence symbol in my catalog or add this symbol to my catalog so that I write my formula?

Many thanks!

Examples: The symbol I want is a double uptack, seen here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conditi...

or in the answer here: https://math.stackexchange.com/questi...

One can write it in MathJax, "$\perp \"!\"!\"! \perp$" [without any quotes!]

This symbol looks like an underscore of width 1.5 with two parallel lines of height 1 that run perpendicularly into that underscore.

2015-09-07 23:47:16 +0100 asked a question Add range (low-high values) "Name" to chart legend from Data Table
  • In Libre Writer, Insert > Object > Chart.
  • Then right-click > Chart Type.
  • Select "Stock" and click "Stock Chart 3" (blue bars).
  • Then right-click > Data Table.
  • Type "Low-High Range" in text box above "Low Values ... High Values" and click "OK"
  • This text does not appear in Chart Legend

How can I add custom text to the legend (text placed next to orange legend line) to explain orange data lines in chart?

2015-01-27 17:14:27 +0100 asked a question Import PDF or FDF to Base?

It seems crazy, but while Libre Base can export a form as PDF, there is no way to easily import the completed form data from the PDF into Libre Base.

One idea is to extract PDF form data to FDF (or unfriendly CSV) and then convert that to a friendly CSV at which point one can copy and paste CSV data into Libre Base.

  • Big question: How can I easily import PDF form data to a Base record?

    • Note: A friendly CSV would look like:
      • Row 1: "FieldName1, FieldName2, ..."
      • Row 2: "Value1, Value2, ..."

Useful files on Ge.tt until 2015,02,25:

  1. Super basic blank pdf with "Submit format" as FDF
  2. Filled PDF made from (1)
  3. Extracted CSV data from (2)
  4. Extracted FDF data from (2)

How to make files 1-4

  1. Libre Base > Forms > Edit > Open Database Object --> File > Export as PDF
  2. Type data manually
  3. pdftk filled_form-submit_format_fdf.pdf dump_data_fields output filled_form.csv
  4. pdftk filled_form-submit_format_fdf.pdf generate_fdf output filled_form.fdf

*Note: You can also use Libre Base to export a blank form as XML or HTML, but I don't know how to input data into those files nor import that data back into Base.
