2016-02-27 15:19:29 +0100 asked a question Writer does not show formula

I am Using LibreOffice version 5.1.0.3 When I open a Writer document made with an older LO version some formulas made with Math and included in that Writer document are not shown. I have to double click on the place where it should be displayed in order to let it show up again. Together with this formula problem, there is also a scrolling problem. Using an older LO version 5.0.4.2 this problem does not show up!

2016-02-18 10:42:52 +0100 marked best answer Shortcut to insert formula in Writer document

Hello, is there a shortcut to insert a formula in Writer? You normally do this by Insert>Object>Formula, but when working in a document and having to do this a lot, a shortcut would be most welcome. I did browse the 'Getting Started' Guide but could not find any clue. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for your update. It is now clear for me. But there is one question left: Every time I draw a rectangle ( and indeed now I do not have to do the same procedure again), the colour stays blue when I draw another rectangle. Every new drawn rectangle I have to adjust its colour again into the desired one. Did I forgot something to do?

This is not clear for me. When I select for instance the rectangle BEFORE drawing, I cannot define 'area'.

2015-01-07 08:55:49 +0100 commented answer spelling checker not working anymore

Before I install a new version of LibreOffice I make a copy of the old one and rename that copy. In this case 'LibreOffice4_old'. I called this a 'package'. Then I install the new version and, if I understand this correctly, it overrides the installed version (=LibreOffice4).What I did now is a reinstall and this solved this strange problem. The spelling checker works fine now. The only thing what I always do is to hack the 'startcenter.ui' file to get rid of that recent docs display 'feature'.

2015-01-04 12:41:06 +0100 answered a question spelling checker not working anymore

ROSt52, I checked what you advised and could not find anything wrong with the Extension Manager settings. What I find strange is that after a spelling and grammar check, when I make a deliberate misspelling, there is always a 'the spell check is complete' window with no comments. So there is a spelling check but LibreOffice cannot find anything wrong with the text how ever the mistakes I made. Before I install a new version of LibreOffice I always copy the old package and rename that as LibreOfice4_old. I pointed the LibreOffice desktop short cut to the .exe file in that old package and now the spelling checker works fine. I think the best thing to do is to uninstall and re-install that the new version, see if this helps.

2014-12-29 21:28:58 +0100 answered a question Preventing the LibreOffice start screen displaying recently opened docs

Yes Lupp, I know that @Nars thread and I used it to get rid of this "feature". But I want to migrate to Linux, I am tired to change to a new Windows version every few years and pay for that new one. The string you wrote for linux does not exist for my linix mint 17.1. I cannot detect that!. Perhaps I am forced to go to some linux forum to get help. But I am very disapointed by the fact that the LibreOffice software people do not give a damne including the possibility to make an option to switch this "feature" off.

rautamiekka: here is the link provided by @Nars to switch this lovely feature off: http://ask.libreoffice.org/en/questio... hope this will help. If not I can provide a screenshot which I made that time.

This is until now the main reason I do not want to update to the new libreoffice version and also the main reason I did not contribute money to those software people.

Is there a workaround for the start screen of LibreOffice to prevent from displaying the recently used documents when using Linux Mint? I know about the workaround in Windows 7 and I am using this but I am not aware of a solution for Linux killing this VERY ANOYING “feature”. Thanks

2014-08-25 14:58:44 +0100 commented answer Can the new Start Screen in v4.2 be reverted to that in v4.1?

Great!! It worked also for me on W7. Cannot understand why they changed the start screen to this one if you want some privacy. They MUST change this is the next version or at least leave an option to the old one! Till then I will wait to pay my yearly donation.....

In the Electronics literature a symbol like û (symbol for the maximum value of a voltage) is often used. How can I insert this symbol in a formula using Math? In the manual there is something written about ‘Adding a new symbol’ but I do not quite understand this. Thanks in advance.

When choosing to print only a particular page in a document, the program always jumps to the first page after giving the printing O.K. command. Is there a way to avoid this annoying behaviour?
