2017-02-13 14:38:10 +0200 asked a question The page text boundary indicators have disappeared in Writer

LibreOffice Writer displays the text boundaries on its pages, shown by small L-shapes at the four corners.

Having upgraded to version 5.3.0.3 recently, those boundaries have disappeared.

I have checked that View > Text Boundaries is ticked.

How can I get those text boundaries back again, please?

EDIT

I have noticed that this is happening only on some of my documents, not all of them. That means that it is document-specific. This confuses me greatly!

2016-02-24 15:36:18 +0200 asked a question LibreOffice icon image is missing for systray Quickstarter. How can I reinstate it?

When I install LibreOffice and enable the systray Quickstarter, a small icon is (correctly) shown on the systray.

However, with the latest version (LibreOffice 5.1.0.3), the icon image seems to missing from the distribution. Instead, the "missing" icon (a red circle and bar on a grey background) is shown:

image description

The icon works correctly — when clicked, I can access the menu items. It seems that just the icon image itself is missing.

Do you know how I can reinstate the icon? Presumably I need to copy the icon image from some folder to another, but I wouldn't know which.

I am using Linux Ubuntu 14.04 64-bit. I downloaded and installed LibreOffice (the .deb packages) from the official website.

2016-02-24 15:13:51 +0200 answered a question Quickstarter icon doesn't show under Unity

This is a perennial problem, caused by Mark Shuttleworth's insane decision to hard-code which legacy icons are allowed.

You can overcome this limitation with the "Indicator Systemtray Unity" app, which allows all legacy systray icons to work. To use, open a terminal and enter these commands:

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:fixnix/indicator-systemtray-unity
sudo apt update
sudo apt install indicator-systemtray-unity

Log out and in again (or reboot).

2016-02-24 14:57:46 +0200 answered a question LibreOffice icon image is missing for systray Quickstarter. How can I reinstate it?

Having had my original question put on lengthy moderation, I finally figured out the answer, which turned out to be time-based.

The solution was to wait for the Ubuntu LibreOffice PPA to be updated, which (it seems) takes a couple of weeks. First uninstall the version of LibreOffice that was installed from the official website, then install it from the PPA instead.

@froz, thanks, but it's not Calc where I have the problem; it's Writer.

Thanks for the answer, but as I have mentioned in my original question, this simplified version is insufficient (the column width is not restored). I shall add a new bug to reflect the bug mentioned by @oweng.

2013-05-12 11:36:03 +0200 asked a question How can I move a column in a Writer table?

How can I move a column in a Writer table left or right?

I know that I can…

  1. Make a manual note of the column's formatting (if different from the rest of the table)
  2. Open the table's properties
  3. Make a manual note of the column widths
  4. Cut the contents of the column I wish to move
  5. Delete that column
  6. Insert a new column in the required place
  7. Paste the contents
  8. Open the table's properties
  9. Restore the column widths in the new order
  10. Fix the column's formatting as required

… But that is both error-prone and tedious (especially if you have several tables).

I imagine that there would be a superior way. I have looked at the Table help page ("Column: Specifies the value to be used for moving a column"), but I cannot figure out what it means! Google has also not helped me.

So, how do I move a column in a Writer table?

I am using Libre Office version 4.0.3.3, downloaded directly from the official website, on Linux Ubuntu version 12.04.

Thank you.

EDIT: This seems to be a bug, as referenced by @oweng.

2012-12-05 13:29:38 +0200 asked a question Tools > Options > Memory and check 'Enable system tray Quickstarter'

I had Libre Office 3.6.0 (I think), and the Quickstarter worked perfectly.

I uninstalled it, and installed Libre Office 3.6.4.

Now, Quickstart does not work. If I start Libre Office with the following command:

libreoffice3.6 --quickstart

Libre Office starts normally, ignoring the Quickstart option.

There is no option Tools > Options > Memory > Enable system tray Quickstarter.

I cannot upload a screen-shot, but you can see it here:

I am using Linux Ubuntu 12.04 fully updated.
