I copied and pasted text from a website, and the text contains grey, vertical rectangles. <a href=http://i.imgur.com/63YYa.png">

What are they, and how do you remove them? Can they be removed using regular expressions with the AltSearch (Alternative dialog find and replace)extension ?

Thanks for any information.

What setting would effect this behavior?

Thanks

2013-02-12 03:52:00 +0200 asked a question Want to delete content by move in Navigator, and Shift+left-click to extend text selection, but cursor moves when jump to heading in Navigator.

Is it possible to jump to a bookmark or heading without moving the cursor? I'm currently reading the Libreoffice documentation .odt, and I would like to delete the sections that I'm probably not going to reread in the near future. I want to delete from the heading, “Quick printing”, to heading, “Exporting to PDF”. I open the Navigator, and double-click on “Quick printing”:

My cursor jumps to the heading (it's to the left of the "Q"):

From this point, I need to extend the text selection all the way down to the “Exporting to PDF” heading.

I'd like to do this by moving to the heading, and pressing Shift+left-click (consecutive/contiguous selection). However, I don't know any way to easily move to “Exporting to PDF” without also moving the cursor there.

Any possibilities? Thanks.

Is there any reason why selecting text, and choosing “Clear formatting”, would cause the text to become Italic?

Before choosing “Clear formatting”:

After:

I don't touch styles, but I checked, and The Default style is Regular. Weird.

Thanks for any info.

If it's easier, what about a Freeplane mind map? (http://freeplane.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Main_Page) I don't know if Draw or Freeplane allow wiki-style editing, as that could make it easier to maintain.

Is there a section of documentation on this? Thanks.

2012-12-16 02:32:13 +0200 edited answer Why do my documents sometimes open with formatting changes such as bold, underline, or font color?

I'm not sure if we have the same issue, but I've been having some problems with formatting also. It seems fine in the document, but when I paste on a forum or email, there's italics on some text. Check out my question: Is there any reason why selecting text, and choosing “Clear formatting”, would cause text to become Italic? (pics included)

My answer was to mess with the styles: "Paragraph styles" was on default, but not "Character styles". Try making sure the formatting of the styles are what you want. Select text, then apply by double-clicking after opening the Styles and Formatting pane.
