2017-03-07 20:33:55 +0200 answered a question libreoffice and MacOS Sierra 2017 compatible?

I am using LibreOffice 5.2.5.1 on macOS 10.12.3 (Sierra). I can not speak about the 5.3 release as I have not tried it.

You should not have any problems with the 5.2.5.1 release. Overall, I have great success using LibreOffice on a MacBook Pro. I mainly use Writer.

I would give it an A+.

What OS is installed? Is it only one document or all that are opened? Have you tried temporarily replacing the user information to see if that will fix the problem?

2016-10-15 22:41:44 +0200 answered a question Is 5.2.2 LibreOffice upgrade compatible with Mac OS Sierra?

Out of the box LibreOffice does have issues with macOS Sierra. They are working on a fix which should come in a later release.

However there are simple work arounds to get it going depending on your hardware, iMac or MacBook Pro.

See: https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/questi...

and https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/questi...

If that does not fix your problem, please add a comment to your post with information like: error messages, hardware, etc.

2016-10-14 19:46:29 +0200 answered a question How do I make 0001, stay like that and not turn into a 1???

If this is in a table then the cell format will have to be "number". You can then configure it to have the leading "0" you want.

Do a test page so you can experiment. Insert table, right click cell and select format number. That should get you started.

2016-10-14 19:20:50 +0200 answered a question When will Libreoffice be upgraded to work with Sierra OS

The work around for the iMac seems to be changing the display profile.

I do not have an iMac so I have not tested this. It is information that I found trying to correct LO problems on my MacBook Pro.

  1. I do not make system changes with any applications running, so close all applications.
  2. Go to System Preferences>Displays. Select the color button and change color profile to “Generic RGB Profile”.
  3. I am not sure if the system will force a restart but I always do a restart after making system changes.
  4. After the restart test LO to see if the problem has been corrected.

If your problem has not been corrected add a comment to your post with: any error messages, iMac model, LO version you are using.

You could also try the latest development build to see if that may correct your problems. I am running 5.2.3.1 on my MacBook Pro.

2016-10-08 20:07:50 +0200 commented answer LibreOffice 5.2.1 & 5.1.5 crashing after upgrading to macOS Sierra (10.12)

Added 10/08/16 **

Downloaded and installed the current nightly build for mac found below.

http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/dai...

This has corrected my problem with LibreOffice crashing at startup.

So far, have only tested Writer as that is the main application I use. Maybe other problems but so far all seems to be working with Writer. Does seem to be slow loading a document but it is a nightly build so some issues are expected.

Tried the pre-release version 5.1.6.1. It is experiencing the same problem as prior releases for me.

Removed all previous versions and installed the LO Dev build 5.2.3.1. As with previous releases the program opened the first time and then crashed the next time.

I had seen reports that the graphic card switching was causing this crash.

When to Preferences>Energy Saver. With the power adapter button selected I unchecked “Automatic graphics switching”. This will cause the computer to always use the high-performance graphics.

After making this change LO will open without a problem. So for me the macOS Sierra problem has something to do with the graphic card and which one is being used. When the AMD Radeon HD 6770M is used all the time there is no problem with LO starting.
