2017-02-13 07:27:00 +0100 answered a question problem using cups 2.2.2?

Upon further investigation, it appears that the NetBSD pkgsrc installs an invalid cups,.conf file when updating to cups-2.2.2. As a result, cupsd fails to start, and libreoffice cannot communicate with cupsd.

I will close this question as it is not an issue with libreoffice!

Updated to 5.2.5.1 without any change. I will be trying 5.3 out soon...

2017-02-03 10:48:17 +0100 asked a question problem using cups 2.2.2?

With libreoffice-5.2.5.1 (built with cups support enabled) and cups-2.2.2, I cannot open a particular spreadsheet. The same spreadsheet can be opened successfully if I replace cups-2.2.2 with a cups-2.2.1

The only thing "interesting" about the particular spreadsheet is that it has a user-defined print-area as well as manuallyinserted page breaks. Other spreadsheets without these attributes can be opened successfully.

I don't know if this is a problem with cups, or with libreoffice. (But Isuspect the latter.)

This is on a NetBSD-7.99.53 release on amd64 platform, and both cups and libreoffice are built from sources using the NetBSD pkgsrc system.

2017-02-03 06:36:24 +0100 asked a question multi-line spreadsheet headers

Running libreoffice 5.2.5.1 ... I'm trying to print a spreadsheet with 3 rows of header info that I want to print at the top of each page. I'm pretty sure that I've frozen the rows correctly, since when I page down thru the document the desired rows remain displayed on the screen. But when I go to print-preview, only two of the rows get displayed at the top of pages 2 and above. Any suggestions on how to get proper printing and on-screen display?

(I've installed libreoffice on a NetBSD-7.99.53 system, compiled from sources using NetBSD's pkgsrc...)

One additional problem area, in Calc!

the "Name Box"(where you can enter cell address or name) gets updated every time you move selection to a new cell. but while new pixels get set black, old pixels don't get cleared, so they just accumulate! You can clear them by selecting the entire box, and only the current location will be displayed. But if you start moving to new cells, the bad behavior recurs.

2017-01-04 11:35:07 +0100 asked a question Strange visual behaviors after upgrade to 5.2.4.2.0

Upgraded to 5.2.4.2.0 (via NetBSD pkgsrc, if it matters). Observing several visual changes that are not pleasant!

  1. No scroll bars for documents. Instead of a scrollbar and thumb, there's just an area (boundaries of which are not visible!) where you can click, and clicking transports you to that point in the document. No more "click above thumb" to page up, or "click below thumb" to page down, or dragging of thumb. There is no thumb!

  2. Menu backgrounds are very pale (light in color) and boundaries/borders are nearly invisible.

  3. On the "Format Cells" dialog, there are no borders between tabs, and no indication of which tab is active. similarly, the OK, Cancel, and Reset buttons have no outlines/borders and are the same color as the box.

  4. On a spreadsheet, the Font selection box and Font Size box are the same color as the background portion of the menu bar. Additionally, neither one has a pull-down menu (so you can no longer get a list of fonts, you have to type the whole name!)

  5. Not sure about this one, but the Menu bar seems to be using a smaller font-size than before.
