2015-03-18 08:34:09 +0200 commented question Why does Calc leave numbers out from my input?

What do you use to do the rounding? I inserted 0.0809302952 into cell C8 in calc and then used =ROUND(C8,7) and got the correct result. I also get the correct result when using the toolbar to display less decimals in the cell. What is your LibreOffice version and operating system?

2015-03-18 08:29:01 +0200 answered a question split view for single document

I don't know of any method to split one window to view the same document (in Writer). But you can create another window that views the same document by using Window -> New window.

In Calc, you can also choose a cell and then use Window -> Split or Window -> Freeze. That will split your window into two and allow you to move each side separately.

2015-03-18 08:25:05 +0200 commented answer SERIOUS WARNING! "Close" button acts as "OK".

As this has been reproduced, you should file a bug for it at https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/. Mention the steps to reproduce and set the version as 4.4.1.1 and OS as Windows 7. You can link to this thread. Do search for an existing bug before filing a new one though.

I cannot reproduce either of the described situations with LO 4.3.3.2 on Ubuntu Gnome 14.10. Can you describe which LO version and what operating system you have?

2015-03-04 09:19:55 +0200 answered a question Is LibreOffice financed by Microsoft, you expect people to move to Linux, but it can not do anything constructive?

No, LibreOffice is not funded by Microsoft. It is developed by The Document Foundation, a non-profit organization.

2015-01-27 10:52:21 +0200 answered a question How can I enter 41982.7500663774408167 with all decimals

You have exceeded the amount of digits a double can store (decimals are usually stored as doubles on a computer).

You can preced the value with a ', which will make it be interpreted as a string (a series of characters). It will enable you to store the whole value, but you cannot do calculations on it.

2014-09-29 17:28:52 +0200 answered a question how to fix a corrupted file

The file (if you saved as OpenDocument Text, ODT) is actually a zip file which you can rename to a .zip and unpack with some zip program. When you have unpacked it, you can inspect the contents. Text you have written should be readable in one of the resulting XML files.

You can read more about the file contents here: http://books.evc-cit.info/odbook/ch01... .

2014-08-25 13:39:43 +0200 answered a question Why do my table captions show "Number range Table"?

Your Writer has been configured to show field names instead of field contents. You can toggle this in View -> Field Names. The default hotkey for it seems to be Ctrl+F9.

2014-07-28 14:18:50 +0200 answered a question Can I still download version 4.0 for power pc macs

By googling for libreoffice powerpc, I have found a couple of links which may help.

In this discussion thread, a user has compiled many recent versions (including 4.3 and 4.4) for PowerPC Macs and posted links to them.

AfterDawn has LO 4.0.4 for PPC available here.

Note that the LibreOffice team cannot take any responsibility or provide support for these downloads as they are by third parties.

EDIT: And while I was typing, another answer was posted with links to official downloads. Use those if you don't want to download from third parties.

2014-06-04 14:13:22 +0200 answered a question I have been advised that LibreOffice 4.2 can open Clarisworks files, is this true?

Yes, LibreOffice can read (but not write) ClarisWorks/AppleWorks documents from version 4.1 onwards. Do note though that there may be bugs as the file format is very old. I also advise you to save the documents as ODT or another appropriate ODF format to ensure that they can be opened in the future too.

2014-05-10 13:42:51 +0200 answered a question Is Cloud Scanner .trojan.Gen@2@1 a false positive?

If you downloaded AOO from their official site ( http://www.openoffice.org/ ), then it probably is just a false positive. Antivirus software are often too eager to mark stuff as viruses because they rely on inaccurate heuristics (in fact for Windows 8 I would suggest running only Windows Defender and certainly not paying for antivirus).

This is the Ask site for LibreOffice, though. Maybe you could try the latest LibreOffice version from http://www.libreoffice.org/ and see if it runs well? :)

2013-10-01 19:28:08 +0200 marked best answer [Meta] How to upload avatar image on AskLibO?

I cannot seem to be able to upload an avatar for myself on this site. I have tried with the latest Chrome (24.0.1312.52) on OS X (10.6.8) and Windows 7. I have tried several image sizes and formats (PNG, JPG, GIF). All I get is the same message:

Upload a valid image. The file you uploaded was either not an image or a corrupted image.

The problem with that is that there's no information about what is an allowed image format and size. I suspect that the uploader is broken for my browser or something.

2013-09-19 14:50:48 +0200 commented question [META] Why does the sidebar link to #libreoffice-ask?

The same problem is on Ask's wiki page linked to in the sidebar.

2013-09-19 14:48:50 +0200 asked a question [META] Why does the sidebar link to #libreoffice-ask?

The sidebar currently links to #libreoffice-ask on Freenode. There are no people on that channel. On the other hand, #libreoffice on Freenode has 113 nicks at the time of writing. The link to the channel should be fixed to point to #libreoffice.

2013-08-23 07:35:28 +0200 answered a question Table of Contents single column width

Have you tried putting your TOC in a single cell table or frame with no borders? I mean first creating the table and then clicking inside it and choosing Insert -> ... -> Table of Contents. Then you should be able to resize it to your will. Alternatively just change the margins of the page it is on.

2013-06-01 10:05:25 +0200 answered a question How do I uninstall from Mac 10.8

If you start up LibreOffice and go to Preferences -> Paths (translated from Finnish so might be slightly different) you can see the paths that LibreOffice is using. You can go ahead and delete the files in those paths if you do not need your LibreOffice preferences anymore. Then you can delete the application from /Applications or wherever you installed it to.

The feature is called Fontwork. You can read how to use it here. In a nutshell, you open the Fontwork toolbar from View -> Toolbar -> Fontwork, then click on "Fontwork gallery" and select the style you want. You can edit the text by doubleclicking it.

2013-02-11 10:03:18 +0200 commented question Librewriter changes document when it is reopened

I know this isn't a solution to the original problem but before DOCX support is perfected, you could save the documents as ODT and just save a DOCX version when you're sending them out. This would avoid some of the problems in the editing stage.

Before moderation was put in place there was a huge amount of spam incoming. The front page was full of spam (links to sites for downloading TV shows etc). That was the reason for it.

You can go into Tools -> Options -> Appearance to change the color of AutoSpellcheck, which will change the color of the underline, but I don't think it's possible to change the background.
