Windows 10

LO 6.0.2.1

I somehow (probably by choice, but I don't recall how) added a Form item to my Writer menu bar. That's fine, though it turns out I don't use it much.

Unfortunately, the hot key (Alt+) for the Form menu is F - the same as for the File menu, which I use all the time. I know how to change hot keys for menu sub-items, but not for the menu itself.

How can I:

  • change the hot key for the Form menu to something other than F; or
  • remove the Form menu completely

Help much appreciated.

Happily, the latest update to LO (6.03.2) fixed the problem by changing the accelerator key for the Form menu item.

I'd like to replace specified text (e.g., ###) with a specific image. I haven't found how to do this, and would appreciate advice.

As a subsidiary issue, the image will recur many times in the document. Is there a way to incorporate it that will take less space - e.g. includes only one copy, but links to it, so that visually the image is present everywhere?

Thanks. This looks a little more intensive than I had anticipated, but seems a viable solution, so I'll test it out.

2018-03-27 10:33:11 +0200 marked best answer Stop Writer from inserting spaces when I click

Writer has what is probably intended to be a useful feature - if you click in an area of the page where there is as yet no text, it will put a paragraph mark there, and insert leading spaces from there to the margin. It usually indicates that it plans to do so with a right or left-pointing triangle.

I hate this behaviour. It's far too easy to trigger by mistake, and a pain to fix. How can I make it stop permanently?

2017-12-20 17:30:25 +0200 marked best answer Font doesn't show properly

Windows 10, LO 5.4.3.2, spacejunk:xl font

I downloaded the following font: http://www.1001fonts.com/spacejunk-xl...

It installed fine, and works great in Word 2016. In LO Writer, however, it looks like a generic non-serif font. Italicized, however, it looks like a generic serif font.

In the font picker drop down preview, it shows an italicized non-serif font. In the drop-down itself, it looks like a non-italicized serif font.

What I get from all this is that LO is for some reason not recognizing the font, and substituting generic alternatives. I don't know why. Suggestions appreciated.

2016-09-01 01:40:35 +0200 asked a question How can I calculate a corrected wordcount in a field?

It's easy to insert a field showing the number of words in a document. However, that figure includes _all_ words, including headers, etc.

I have a short story template, and I'd like it to display the number of words in the story, minus the baseline words in the template, minus the address, title, etc. The titles will be variable length, but for simplicity here, I'd like a field that shows the result of the formula: LO # of words in document minus 152 (e.g., =Words - 152).

I see the way to enter a formula in a field, but I don't know how to refer to the # of words.

Replies to a couple of similar queries seem to suggest this is not possible, but they're not definitive, and that seems a strange result.
