Yep, same problem here with Linux Mint 17.3 and latest Thunderbird 45.4.0. Its erratic. Then it works and then, more often than not, no attachment and the T'Bird window refuses to add an attachment

2016-06-02 15:02:57 +0200 commented question base crashes when opening sqlite db view

No, I'm trying to avoid Java at all costs. I've had so many problems with the embedded database that I would prefer not to have the number crunching machine running in the background. All I have read states that it should work, and it worked the first time I accessed it, thereafter LibreOffice crashed. I have just tried Open Office and I get the same result... Anyhow, I don't know enough but a JDBC connection to get it going... will it connect an SQLite database?

2016-05-26 15:34:23 +0200 asked a question base crashes when opening sqlite db view

I have an ODBC connection to a sqlite db. For some or other reason, although base opens the database itself, when I try and access any of the tables, base just closes quietly/ crashes. I have done an integrity check via SqliteStudio and apparently there are no problems with the Sqlite db. I can also add/ amend etc to the tables via SqliteStudio, but need to use base to create reports. (This db was initially an embedded database within base, which I managed to "convert" and now have a need to recreate my old reports...) Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Is there a fix?

**OS: Linux Mint 17 & Libreoffice

Bud. Its not uncommon. I suppose you were using the built in database, HSQL? Its very rarely fixable. Believe me, I have tried on numerous occasions. Your base file is a zip file in reality and if you change the extension to zip you can sneek a peek at what is going on underneath and possibly save some of your data. Other than that, I don't think there is much you can do. (I hope I am wrong.) Try looking at ways of connecting base to SQLite or MySQL via ODBC. Another headache, but at least it will be more stable if succesfull.

2013-11-16 12:09:56 +0200 answered a question Libreoffice Base cannot open reports

And I just solved my own dilemma... It seems there was something wrong with the Report Builder, or more accurately, I think the Report Builder is now integrated into LO4? I was looking up the error I got when I came across this answer:

"It means that at some point, an interface was changed to a class, but an implementer of the original interface was not modified and recompiled to accommodate this (incompatible) change." (This referring to the error received - ie java.lang.IncompatibleClassChangeError.) This got me to thinking that the only "old" reference would be the report builder...

The answer was to remove the Report Builder from the extension manager list. Once removed, I closed base. Reopened it and tried opening a few reports. Yep. It worked. I can now opn my reports in LO

2013-11-16 10:57:57 +0200 commented question Libreoffice Base cannot open reports

Have tried rebuilding the db. Carried the script & data files over to a new database to see whether, if I created a new database in LO 4.1.3, it would generate a newly created report. Didn't happen. Cannot seem to find a specific bug for this either, but it seems a few users have had the same problem, though each seems to have solved it differently. So I guess its back to trusty old LO 3.4 with JRE 6 U22. Unfortunately according to my Base the current version is I've just tested LO on an older machine with Mint 9 (Gnome 2). Results are the same. Same argument, same result. No report.

2013-11-14 09:59:10 +0200 commented question Is there a way to create Indexes that will actually speed up record searches in LibreOffice Base?

Is this not maybe related to Bug 51239. Look it up @ . I had a problem with LO 3.5 initially which got worse with 3.6 etc etc... Anyway, it seems to have been sorted out with LO 4.1.3, being slightly slower than LO 3.4 but not all that noticeable. Believe me, I have been working on a 40000 plus entry database, so I will notice if the speed of Base is affected.

2013-11-13 16:35:22 +0200 asked a question Libreoffice Base cannot open reports

I have been using Libreoffice for years now (OOo before that). With the v4 of Libreoffice, all my reports in Base refuse to open and all I get is the following: "Document could not be opened - caught a java.lang.IncompatibleClassChangeError"

All my reports worked on previous versions. I have been glued to LO v3.4 as all other Base modules were WAAAYYYYY too slow to be efficient. With LO 4.1.3 this changed and even the HSQL problem is better addressed, however, now I cannot access my reports. I downloaded Open Office 4.0 (Please don't shoot me) and my reports still work on OOo, but inevitably my db crashes and I lose my data and I do not want to go that route too many times. Even LO 3.4 is more stable in that regard.

I updated my java to the latest version and this problem still persists. I have used JRE, then 1.7.0_25 and finally 1.7.0_45. None of these are from the distro, but rather downloaded from the oracle site.

Am running Linux Mint 15 KDE on a Lenovo G570 1.8Ghz Celeron Processor with 3GB Ram (Yep, still 32 bit version).

Any tips?
