Hello.

The image below shows awarning, or error, or information message that frequently occurs when saving a Writer document after performing a Ctrl-C / Ctrl-V operation moving content from an open Calc spreadsheet to an open Writer document.

The message is factually incorrect in that only LibreOffice Writer and Calc are used to create and save the Writer and Calc documents. I do not proceed with the save document operation and click the “No” response to the question about recalculating all formula cells.

The fact that the message is nicely presented in a response-is-needed box indicates to me that LibreOffice has detected a flaw of some known sort and that programmers may understand the cause or causes.

What is the reason this message appears? Do I need to set a flag or choose an option, the failure so far to do so is causing this message to appear?

Thank you. Jim Martin

That would be a bug. Please file it, and attach sample documents along with specific steps (select what, copy and paste where, save as what) to reproduce the problem.

Thank you for the advice. Having not reported a problem like this before now, I must first understand the procedure for how one reports a bug.

Just follow the link I gave, and choose “File a bug” (you might need to create an account there), then follow the guidelines on the pages. In your case, you need to choose “LibreOffice”, then type a title like you used here, then describe - again, like you did here, component is LibreOffice again, version 6.3.3.2, provide steps to reproduce. After you submit the bug (and it appears), please attach a sample file(s) to it (look for “Add an attachment” in the bug).
