Unwanted ellipsis

I am currently using LibreOffice Version: 5.0.5.2 under Ubuntu 15.10

Up until recently I have had no real problems with an ellipsis apart from producing one when I want one. Unfortunately the situation seems to have been reversed recently, presumably due to some update, to the extent that any attempt to produce a string of periods seems to result in an ellipsis every three dots (or periods)

I want control over this behaviour and I have more use for strings of periods, full stops or dots than I have for unwarranted ellipsis(es?).

Anyone have a solution for this ellipsis anarchy?

Looks like an AutoCorrect replacement rule.

I found rule .*... → … which replaces any sequence of 3 dots following a “word” (without space) by an ellipsis. You can erase it or replace it through menu Tools → AutoCorrect options, Replace tab (the first on the left).

Thanks! That did the trick once I deleted the right Replacement Table entry!! I’d looked there before posing this question but couldn’t see the wood for the trees, and ended up deleting the wrong thing – with no noticeable effect, unsurprisingly.

I still don’t know why an update would have triggered the errant behaviour compared to the previous state of affairs, but c’est la vie!
