Space after footnote character

I would like to have a little space between my footnote characters and the footnote text. Can I have that without preceding the footnote text with a space, every time?

Yes. Configure you footnote appearance with Tools>Footnotes & Endnotes. Two text boxes are provided for that: Before and After. You can define there any string, not only a single character, which will “decorate” the footnote number.

This “decoration” does not affect the footnote anchor (the superscript number in the main text).
