2014-02-25 15:56:18 +0200 ha posto una domanda Microsoft Word always complains my ODT files are corrupt

Microsoft Word 2010 always complains about not being able to open a .ODT file from Writer version 4.x (I'm now using 4.2.1.1), saying it is "corrupt" and/or has something "missing" and wanting to “fix” it or "recover" it, then when I tell it Yes, it always opens and there is nothing missing and nothing wrong with the document. MS Word used to open ODT files instantly without complaining, but recently started inconveniencing ODT users. Of course, Microsoft _claims_ to support .ODT. Hm-m-m-m.

Please refer me to some documentation that I can read to learn what is going on in this scenario, and if there are any plans to get MS Word to stop behaving this way. For example, is there any interest in trying to discover any special code M$ may have added to Word to trigger these extra steps any time it opens a file with a .ODT extension?

Thanks for any info.

Jim

I have often observed copy-and-paste problems with text and images. For example: 1. View a WWW page that has text and graphics in e.g. an "article", in any browser. 2. Drag your mouse cursor over the article body (avoiding sidebars etc.), selecting text and graphics together. 3. Control-C (Copy). 4. Open a New Writer document, position the typing cursor at the beginning, and Control-V (paste). 5. Voila' -- See exactly what you saw on the WWW page ... except no pictures/graphics. 6. Open a New Microsoft Word document in any format, position the typing cursor at the beginning, and Control-V (paste). 7. Voila' -- See exactly what you saw on the WWW page ... including pictures/graphics. Hm-m-m-m-m ...

Note: Writer behaves the same way on all versions of Linux, Mac OS, and Windows I have tried, in all the recent versions of Writer. There are rumors that there is a setting in Writer to make it stop behaving this stupidly (why would this be the default?) but nothing conclusive/official/helpful that I have been able to find so far.

Hi.

I am noticing a puzzling/vexing behavior which I _think_ has been also vexing others in several forums, but I haven't seen a relevant reply so far (no solution, nor even confirmation that this is in fact the current behavior, or whether it is the intended behavior): When I first start entering data into a new spreadsheet (usually by typing, and setting Word Wrap on) I enjoy the fact that the Row Height increases and decreases automatically to fit cell contents as I edit. Then, for some reason, I adjust one or more row heights manually or by choosing Optimum in the dialog, then forever after the Automatic Row Height mode is no longer available for those Rows. I see nothing in the Help that tells how to turn on Automatic Row Height again. Is this because that is in fact impossible? If yes, please fix it. If no, please add the instructions to the Help, and reply here.
