Blurry or fuzzy text Libre Writer

I am using LibreOffice Writer 5.1.5.2 with an iMac Retina display running OSX 10.11.6. Text on the page starts OK and then selectively becomes blurry. Often it in on paragraph boundaries, but not always. If I scroll the text out of view and then back, the text is clear again. The line or lines where I am typing are sharp, but other lines not in my “focus of operation” slowly become blurry.

This happens on no other programs. Where is the setting to turn this “feature” off?

This problem is identical to one identified by another user in Dec 2012, and marked “Closed for the following reason question is not relevant or outdated by Alex Kemp - close date 2015-10-22 19:06:04.097891” However, clearly it IS still relevant!

I don’t know about using LibreOffice on Mac computers, but maybe changing the graphics from inside the program could help:
Tools > Options :
under “LibreOffice” tab, choose: “View” section and try editing the Graphics Output.

I had the same problem but found I could fix it by toggling off the “Direct Cursor Mode” in the Edit Menu.
