Is there a RUBY Framework for LO? Anybody know of a RUBY framework for LO? I.e. the VB or C++ or or or script that can be used to call/start a ruby console (IRB, rails, sketchup, etc) I guess for that matter, anybody know of RUBY framework that could digest a LO document? How to get Writer to record Field value changes in >3.5.x? How does one get changes to a given field to show as changed in writer? Assume I have a document where there is a field (say its the file name or the date). Now assume edit==>changes==>record is enabled. Now assume I change the field (new file name or get new date....fixed or non fixed). The changed field does not show up as changed (ie font color does not go to "red")...the field value actually changes correctly, but the change engine does not seem to notice. This used to work in 3.4 but does not appear to work now. Is there some new trick or setting to get field changes to record as actually changed? The only way I can get it to work is to delete the field and insert the same field back at the same place. This seems to be a problem for anybody using LO for any sort of controlled/managed document. Visio Import Filter Just tried the visio import filter on 3.5 (main reason to move from 3.4). Not what I expected. While I applaud the efforts RE visio import filter in 3.5, it really only works for the basic stuff (no rounded corners on lines, no transparency mgmt for text and fill, gets pretty overwhelmed by a sheet with lots of shapes, etc). Any thought to going a different direction: Launch Visio from Libreoffice context or actually make Draw a usable tool (true iso shapes, parallel projection in 2D, connections, shapesheet construct to give more precise shape control - after all, if all I wanted was simple shapes, I would use impress, etc)? I doubt a Visio import filter will ever catch all the sophistication of a visio drawing....so why pursue a dead end approach. When we'll finally see a new UI? wouldnt it be more important to get some stability in LO before worrying about UIs. With all the problems on 3.6.x (install issues, file association issues, etc), not sure you would even get a chance to use the new UI if there was one. To be fair, I had the need to change header behavior on a file using 3.5.6....it went well (much simpler than changing header formats in mid doc for Word)....so well done LO team!!! 2012-11-08 16:15:56 +0200 コメント付き回答 LibreOffice 3.6 issues obviously alot of solitaire going on there 2012-11-03 04:58:53 +0200 コメント付き回答 LibreOffice 3.6 issues with 3.6.x, you cant even get to the point where you are worried about MSO docs 2012-11-02 04:50:00 +0200 質問に回答する LibreOffice 3.6 issues oh there are so many of these kinds of problems with 3.6.x I ended up backing down to 3.5.6, works quite well 2012-11-02 04:46:03 +0200 質問に回答する Large spreadsheet created with OpenOffice crashes on LibreOffice guys...why would suggest upgrading to 3.6.x.....3.6.x has a whole bunch of general/basicstability problems things like file association under windows gets messed up, cant launch in place, etc. 3.5.6 works real well. How to create left line border? (not paragraph border) on a given style, can use border settings to set line on left side. Ie maybe have to modify 5-10 styles to be consistent you could try spoofing this with change bars.....or.....maybe with line numbering Other ideas that come to mind may be too complicated 2012-10-03 18:18:32 +0200 質問に回答する Does your LibreOffice also randomly crash when saving larger files with images? Back to OpenOffice, sorry.. I dont have this problem - 14MB document (all LO....no mix of LO/PDF) - 250 pages - 130 pictures (I use bitmaps to copy visio into the doc....the visio filter is a waste of time and effort). I will say 3.6.x is a major step backwards in terms of stability and actual file operations in windows 3.5.6 seems fine. That said...I am beginning to consider moving back to OO myself 2012-09-29 19:25:46 +0200 質問に回答する 3.6.1 unstable in general, 3.6.x is real unstable in alot of areas. 3.5.6 seems to work like older versions. This situation is probably getting to the point where LO is going to have make some sort of public statement on the home page. File association for LibreOffice Note....there is a problem with 3.6 and later where the file associations and file launch from directory does not work reliabily So even if you do pin association.....on 3.6 it may dissappear after a few weeks. 2012-09-21 04:33:50 +0200 質問に回答する page numbering I believe there is something like "start number at ____" in there somewhere.....wouldnt that do it? 2012-09-21 04:31:58 +0200 質問に回答する Is it possible to embed fonts in a Writer/Impress/Calc document ? So guys....why not think about this the other way around. Upon install, LO x.y installs a known stable family of fonts on the system (LO_arial, LO_timesroman, etc). Add something to tools that sets priorities between platform fonts and LO installed fonts (try platform first then try LO fonts or vice versa or one/other ONLY). On opening a doc, create or use some variables for fonts to be used. If older doc, create and save (aka like user credentials - name address etc). New or reopened doc, use those variables. If fonts not found, kick up msgbox to user about how to proceed. Somebody adds some cool text to document using font Z, update table in the font variables to include (since presumably this would default to one of the LO installed fonts, so still universal). At least that would be consistent across all LO installs at X.Y or later. If document foundation guys spend too much time studying the need for this, LO reach out to OO etc and see if all can agree on approach. MS can choose to join the party or not. I realize I may be overly simplifying this....but does get around having to all the actual fonts with the document. Visio has done something similar for 10 years....though their approach has a limitation surrounding it in that its based on the relative offset of the font in the library from #1 (i.e On system A, #33 might be font X....on system B, #33 might be font Y). All I am suggesting is that instead of relative index, use actual font name. How can I chain several documents together in Writer so they act as a single virtual document? Just realize Master/sub documents is NOT some sort of poor mans doc management. If you do this, you will be enticed to think "gee I could version or plug in chapters to the master document". Unfortunately, not really the case (unless you keep editiig the sub doc and save it then save a backup then come back real sub and continue to edit it....if a sub problem, then manually stitch in backup sub). So yes....it compartmentizes a huge document into chapters or sections....but doesnt quite give the intended/implied functions one would need to make useful. Sounds like a case for a "doc mgmt" add on - form to list master doc name to use or create and maybe paths to master and subs - form to list subdocs to integrate (formatting/numbering consistency would still be on the user to maintain). - OK to build This would allow you tailor docs to specific audiences (master 1 includes subs 1,3,6,7,9....master 2, includes subs 2,4,5,6,7 while having subs 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 available for use) And to be fair....Word has master / sub doc....but same level of functionality (no plug ability)....so this is not a rant on LO, its a general "feature" (of course, if that is the end game, can always buy some doc mgmt software). 2012-09-13 06:54:50 +0200 質問に回答する LO3.5 won't open or open documents - excell docs origonally done on a WINDOWS XP but this is now on a WINDOWS7 and they have been available recently. 3.6 had this problem for me....uninstalled and moved back to 3.5.6.....so far no problems BTW....ALL LO files on XP had this problem with 3.6 2012-09-10 15:16:48 +0200 質問に回答する Functionality lost after typing 20 to 30 pages For what its worth....on earlier versions of LO (3.1 or so), I was able to copy 230 pages of text from Word to LO with no problems. In the latter versions of LO, there are alot of stability issues / bug deprecation of basic functions, so maybe that is part of the problem. Again, for what its worth (Windows XP, 2GB of RAM, 250GB disk) 2012-09-07 17:41:01 +0200 質問に回答する Another Nasty Feature - Unable to Open ODF File From Folder Update: Bug report says work around is to back down to 3.5.6 So uninstalled 3.6 (only version on this system) So assumed all options/settings lost....expect that Installed 3.5.6 successfully Guess what....all the settings were migrated (mm instead of inches, change behavior for text delete - separate mess, etc Also, guess what, file associations were automatic....for 3.6, I had to manually set that last night after reinstall Pretty interesting that preferences were maintained when NO version of LO present on the system. Not a bad problem....first good surprises since 3.0...just seems odd ( realize some track to the document, but if a new document has none, where would it get that info). Glad file associations work as before. Assuming no other issues...probably will stay on this until LO 5.1 since this suite is pretty out of control / unstable (new releases should NOT depricate basic functions like instal behavior, file opening, general advertised tool behavior, etc) and figure by then the LO community would be tired of fighting all these "simple/basic" problems and buckle down to get the suite stable let alone useful. Another Nasty Feature - Unable to Open ODF File From Folder So here is yet another nasty feature of LO Installed 3.6 two weeks ago Used it several times....no problems....readily launch docs from file/folder directly All of a sudden, file/folder explore locked up (100% CPU utilitization) and had to kill the folder to get out of it!!! (note all the other file types launched with no problems...MS office, PDF, visio, etc). Uninstalled and reinstalled 3.6 Now works again (dont know how long). With all the issues LO has (stability issues, Draw not behaving as tutorials state, etc), this is really making LO pretty unusable for anything more than "how I spent my summer vacation" LO community needs to delay the next release and get this suite to stable......pushing out a unstable buggy releases every few weeks (this is getting worse and worse....using <3.6 for 3 years now and never had this issue) is really undermining the value of this suite. As far as this rant goes, look at this forum, a good 1/3 of the posts talk about install / launch issues or wondering why old function and behaviors do not seem to work anymore. How well does MS Word 2010 render ODT files saved in LibreOffice? Note: LO writer documents format differently in Lotus....OO looks pretty good On Lotus....headers/footers format with different spacing, bit maps not quite right, etc. Charts in presentations are not handled well. RE congresses supporting ODF: Only when it actually gets some stability and the tools actually work as advertised (let alone correct) 2012-09-02 23:41:09 +0200 質問に回答する Draw: Has anybody ever made an Isometric cube??? Update on my travails Man is Draw a mess!!!!! Looks like the manifold approach (after playing with a gizzillion settings) is about the only way I found so far to make any sort of ISO block. Got to mess with the snap settings, the grid settings, etc just to get the cursor to move with appropriate precision and snap the manifolds together appropriately. The inability to specify a 2D box on say round numbers (20mm X 20mm) is quite interesting.....not sure what the point of that is.??? (20mm x 20mm....is either 19.83mm x 19.83mm or 20.17mm x 20.17 mm) Next I tried to use some of Draw's intelligence (or lack there of). Took a basic square sheared and rotated for proper persptective Converted to 3D So hit first problem: Draw went 3D in the wrong direction Rotated around to 180 degrees to get the right direction Used 3D shear So hit second problem: Draw seems to have combined growing in Z direction with rotation in the Z direction . So in essence, the block is growing in Z and is rotating in Z as well....so loose ISO orientation (tried perspective on - much worse problems....and perspective off) I played with the light source some....doesnt look right...but no conclusions yet (since you cant edit a 3D object to change colors on individual panes...probably another reason to steer clear of (Draw automation if at all possible). So bottom line, so far the ONLY way I have found to do any sort of decent (not overly precise but decent) ISO block is to use the manifold approach and play with the Draw settings extensively. Is there ANY plans at all in making draw behave as would be needed to support any Mech Drawing 101 class??? Or any plans to open up Draw to macros so somebody could roll up their sleeves and bypass the hubris by making Macros that do what is required? Hey, here is a thought, maybe, for next release of Draw, testcase 1,045,392 involves actually drawing an Isometric Cube.of say 20mm x 20mm x 20mm (however one makes that work, it should be posted as a tutorial) Since Sketchup does all this correctly (even though its UI is really quite odd) and Visio 2013 appears to have thought this through pretty well based on initial attempts.....lots ... 2012-08-31 18:36:47 +0200 質問に回答する Should upgrade to 3.6.1 on Windows 7 kicks off SearchFilterHost.exe? this may be tied to how window 7 allows code to install. If security set and it cant find key data from source site, it will stop the install. Google Sketchup had the same problem....both MS and Google did NOT resolve the problem....so I use other tools for this stuff. (obviously I tried all the forum hacks, but none seem to work and the error message centered on some certificate that is suppose to come from Google / Trimble 2012-08-23 19:07:45 +0200 質問に回答する Draw: Has anybody ever made an Isometric cube??? A couple of things: 1: your drawing above is not isometric....really some sort of kids dream 2. Snap to grid will never work because the X spacing is different than Y spacing are different for isometrics (might be able to get away with the layman's approximation of X:Y of 2:1....but that is another matter) So I bit the bullet and upgraded to 3.6 from 3.5.1 Good news: - Flip now works as advertised Bad news: - Shearing is still wrong...period (at least not as documented in 3.5.4 tutorial) - 3D shapes with perspective off are still very tough to line up for isometric perspectives - Cant edit 3D shape to extend on an axis (from cube to long block) - Using the manifold approach suggested above means manually editing the group to extend given manifolds (more a nuisance than a problem) - Still no precision control of X, Y, Z dimensions (on 3D block or manifolds, at least I could find) - not sure why perspective on 3D effects would default to on....I guess OO assumes the world wants a walleye view of things Bottom line...a small improvement...but nothing to write to home about. (Draw on a trajectory to make Rel 5 usable) BTW....I am not expecting anything more than what Visio, Sketchup (at least OO UI is better), etc can do....not looking for a CAD program, just looking for something that can do basic 3D stuff as advertized. Draw: Has anybody ever made an Isometric cube??? So lets keep this simple 2012-08-22 16:58:21 +0200 質問に回答する Draw: Has anybody ever made an Isometric cube??? that doesnt work...numerous pieces of this process does not work in 3.5.x For example....flip of a plane rotates it in the Z direction....so cant do reflection For example....using the offsets, it stretches entire plane....so loose the 45 degree angle on the edges for example.....if you stretch on edge of plane, loose 45 degree precision...so cant hold relationship (planes overlap) It just doesnt work anything like the tutorials. Draw: Has anybody ever made an Isometric cube??? Has anybody ever done this (true isometric, no fudged overlaps, etc)?? Is there a tutorial on how (The Draw tutorials that sort of cover this dont really work or reflect the behavior of the tool)? Oh heck: I feel lucky: Does anybody know how to control with precision subregions of a group or shape. I.e. if one wanted to grow say the left side of a square by 5.24mm exactly, how is it done?
