Unwanted separator line in header

Hi

I’m new to LibreOffice!

I’ve just tried inserting a separator line in the footer of my document.
I opened Styles and formatting, selected footer and modify.
I then selected a separator line by clicking the top border.
This worked fine.

Only, now my header has this line as well.
I have no idea how it got there.
I tried deleting the header, but that didn’t work.
I’ve looked at the paragraph style for the header, but supposedly there is no separator line selected.

Any ideas on how I can get rid of that line?

What is the actual paragraph style of your header? I presume that you somehow applied the Footer paragraph style to the header (e.g., double-clicked the Footer style on the sidebar while your cursor was in header line).

Also, what means “I tried deleting the header, but that didn’t work” - do you mean that you tried to delete contents from header, or did you disable header at all in page’s style? A presume the former, because that latter should’ve removed the line.

I really don’t think my cursor was in the header line, but I must have applied the footer style to the header.

I wanted to answer your question: “What is the actual paragraph style of your header?”
While looking for that information I noticed there are two ways to change the formatting of the header.

  1. paragraphs and styles → header → modify. Here there were no borders or lines defined.
  2. click in the header and choose Format header. Here I did see a border defined. I removed it and also selected 'header of".

The header and the unwanted separator line are gone.

Thanks for setting me on the right track.
