Thanks for the hint Craig22. I made the horizontal and vertical resolution smaller and that helps make the grid more vi

I'm using LibreOffice 5.1.6.2 on Win10. For my HP Photosmart 8150 I had to change the Avery Letter Size 5160 (same as 8160) label format to have a top margin of 0.6" and a left margin of 0.5".

2016-11-02 22:38:27 +0200 beantwoorde een vraag LO Locks Files in NVIDIA GLCache

m.a.riosv gave the correct answer in a comment above. Not sure if this is OK but I'm going to mark this question as answered.

The situation is that LibreOffice is locking these files when OpenGL is being used. Optionally, use of OpenGL can be turned off as stated in m.a.riosv's comment.

That does it. I don't know why I'd need OpenGL so I'll run without it to see if I care.

2016-11-01 19:48:51 +0200 stelde een vraag LO Locks Files in NVIDIA GLCache

LO (V5.1.6.2 on Win10) is locking part of a strangely named file (sometimes two such files) located in a subfolder of

C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Roaming\NVIDIA\GLCache

Both files names are long identical strings of numbers with .bin and .toc as the extensions.

I only know this because AVAST reports that it can not scan the files because some process has locked part of them.

I know how to make AVAST ignore these files but I find it very weird (or maybe just interesting) that LO is doing this.

I experimented by closing out LO and seeing that AVAST is happy to scan the files.

Any hints about what is going on here?

I'm a new LO user and find that the grid turns on but is so faint I couldn't see it at first. So I changed the default color to Black. I tried some others (like Red) but they didn't really help.

Tools>Options>LibreOffice>Application Colors>Text Document>Grid. The pull-down has the colors you can use.

I'm just guessing about this being your problem.....

IMHO no question should be closed as a duplicate as long as you can't have a link to the question it is a duplicate of. I run into duplicates and can't find the original via searching! Broken!!!

2016-10-31 17:51:55 +0200 stelde een vraag Help or Issues with the LibreOffice forum

I'm a new user of LibreOffice (on V5.1.6.2 on Win10) after many years using OpenOffice. I find the LibreOffice forum application a bit perplexing - it's way different from any of the many others I've used. I suppose I'll get used to it.

For example: Is there a way to ask a question about or discuss an issue with the forum? (Like I'm doing now?)

I'm guessing that tags are the way questions are grouped rather than having separate sections within the forum. Right?

If so, then using the "forum" tag would be the way to go? Just in case, I've used the "forum" tag for this question.

Is there some read-me or tutorial on the use and creation of tags?

Just noticed that when trying to post I am forced to include at least one of several tags. Most of the choices are clear but what are "common" and "meta" ?

Yes, there is a yellow star on the save icon. I never look at the icon, just the File>Save menu item. I'll try to retrain myself! Thanks for the info.

What is the "Basic IDE" you referred to?

2016-10-28 18:58:36 +0200 stelde een vraag Documents marked modified when not

Trying LibreO v5.1.6.2 on Win10 Pro 64bit after many years using OpenOffice. Immediately noticed that:

  1. The File>Save item is always active (not greyed out when document is unmodified). Very annoying. Can I change that so it's greyed out appropriately?

  2. File>Save will do a save after opening a document that has not been modified (and updates the file modified date). However a File>Close immediately after opening the file does not warn about unsaved changes. This does not make sense to me. After a save has been done a subsequent save does nothing - that's OK but the menu item should have been greyed out (see #1 above).

Is this behavior changeable?
