It sometimes happens that a question is asked that has too little information for it to be answered. Sometimes comments are added asking for more info (e.g. operating system, LO version, LO component), sometimes even answers are added guessing for the true problem or just pointing to the manual.

Is it correct to close these questions? If so, which reason should I choose? There is no reason "too little information", so I am looking at:

• "off-topic or not relevant"
• "not a real question"
• "too localized"

Is one of these most fitting, or can "too little information"/"too broad" be added as a reason?

I'd like to make my and other questions findable using tags (keywords), but I can't find any guidance on what a tag means. No matter in what context I click a tag name, I only see questions tagged using it - never an editable description of the tag meaning. Is it just not supported?

In the Data menu in Calc 4.2.4.2, there is an item named Streams..., which in my (Windows 7, x64) installation is always greyed out. The online help, the LO 4.1 Calc Guide and the LO 4.2 Getting Started guide all return zero results when I search for "Streams", so I can only guess at what it is for.

What is it for? (And where could I have found this information?)

Is it possible to have a different footer on each page of a document when saving in .rtf?

For the sake of document longevity, I was wondering if the functions in Calc are defined by any standards or that they are specific to the implementation of LibreOffice (and/or OpenOffice). If they are, it should not matter with what software (version) formulas in spreadsheets are written.
If they are not standard functions, or if not all functions are standardised, how can users ensure formula output is usable across ODS implementations and durable over the longer term?

I have no experience with t-tests in LibreOffice, but could you explain how you are running a t-test?

Why SUMIF() not work as expected?

Hi. I am trying to export a jcdb database from LibreOffice 3.5.4.2 (Build:2) to a standard XML file. I am using a debian 7.3 VM on a Windows 7 PC (just for full disclosure).

The problem is that the File->Export... and Tools->XML Filter Settings... options are both greyed out and are unable to be selected.

This means I can not export the file as an XML or set up a XML filter to be able to export the file as a XML.

I do NOT want to copy every individual table into Calc and then save it as an XML. I would like this to be done auotmatically.

I cannot find a solution or a reason for these options are greyed out and I am stumped. I have no more ideas of what to research or do to solve it. Please can anyone provide some light on this issue.

I am new to Linux, LibreOffice and this forum so please bare with me.

Libre Office installed to Trisquel 6.0. It is unusable because it says there is not base for it. Cannot delete from Add/Delete lists. Open Office is also unusable because I need Jave 6 and Trisquel (FSF) has blocked and banned it. What is the fix for getting an office suite.

I made a simple table in open office base, called "Table Data View", which I need to print. I can't find any way to realize this as this item is shaded in the menu list

I have version 4.2.5.2. Every time that I cut & paste, I have to go back & click "accept change". Why do I have to do that? I didn't have to do that in the previous version. It is very annoying. How do I stop it?

Interesting problems. Could you add a little information from the project website, so that users don't need to visit the project page (which may not be around forever)? Also, on a more project-related note: LibreOffice is pretty versatile and can create forms in PDF that work, I would have chosen different tools. XSL:FO comes to mind - define a form in XML with questions (variables) and possible answers, use Apache FOP to convert to a layout and PDF and go from there.

I am developing the project SDAPS ( http://sdaps.org ). Right now the project reads in both the ODT file and PDF file, to extract metadata (from style names) and positions of text fields (by parsing the PDF file). I would like to extract this information directly from LibreOffice using python3-uno.

Ideally, one would develop a new way to describe these forms (it would be neat if it also was a PDF form). However, there are some constraints:

• Check-/Radioboxes should have a specific border width (exactly 1pt)
• The absolute position needs to be exported (one way might be by using XML layout export information)
• export the text belonging to a checkbox
• multicolumn layout/right to left languages should work
• include more metadata (i.e. assigning variables/values to checkboxes for choice/range questions)

In general, it would seem sane to use normal form elements. However, it does not seem possible to specify exactly how they should be drawn. Right now we are using empty text fields with a known size and border.

I'll be happy to answer more questions about this. I would love to hear ideas about how this could be done nicely. An important aspect is of course to make it simple to use; the style based system right now is rather hard to use, and even worst to debug.

How do I create non consecutive numbered list in Libreoffice 4.x Writer? I know that libreoffice at least supports reading such lists, but I don't know how to set it so that, for example, the list starts at one, goes to two, then goes to 7, then 8, then 12. In Microsoft Word I can change the number value quite easily, but I don't know how to use this function in Libreoffice. Can anyone explain how to do this?

hello, I am using LibreOffice 4.2.4.2 on Linux Mint Qiana Cinnamon and would like to know why my autocorrect options don't work. They should autocorrect while typing, but no joy. While for autocapitalize is not a big issue, for things such as (R), (C), (tm) fractions etc. is a royal PITA.

What makes you think the current icon is a placeholder? Do you have sources to back that up?

It's "Libre Office". Libre is French for 'free' and it rhymes with "Lee the", not "lie tha".

Since LibreOffice's placeholder application icon looks like a hotel bed sheet with one corner turned down for the guest. I have a Mac, so there is a quick fix. I copied the attractive LibreOffice document icon from File Info and pasted it over the bed sheet icon in File Info for LibreOffice. Since then, LibreOffice has nice-looking icon, and I know what it stands for at a glance.

Are there any plans to give LibreOffice an icon? (Is it "Libra Office" or "Leeber Office"?)

Also, could you clarify whether you are talking about new files, (HTML?) files that you are editing or both? Have you tried using character styles for emphasis instead of plain bold/italics adding?
