"old style figures"

Is Libre Office able to do olde style figures (on Mac)?

Related thread here but there is limited information on AAT support. Bug fdo#60384 seems related but I cannot get the new bugzilla to display the page.

The short answer is yes, but…

Here are the requirements:

  1. The font must support old style figures. (https://fontdrop.info)
  2. You must use features of Libreoffice that extend beyond the capabilities of OpenDocument format. This means talking directly to the font through the fontname field that appears in the program.
  3. Add this text to the font name while your number is selected [:onum=1] (only the text within brackets, not the brackets too.) If you were using Liberation Sans, the fontname with oldstyle figures enabled is [Liberation Sans:onum=1]
  4. Unless you have only a few numbers to convert to oldstyle numbers, this select and type gets old. so it’s important to note that this feature works everywhere a fontname box appears. HINT: Styles have font tabs with font name boxes in them.
  5. You can append multiple opentype features together with the ampersand. :liga=1&pnum=1&onum=1 turns on ligatures, proportional numbers, and oldstyle figures (as long as these features are in your font.)
  6. Any opentype feature in the font may be included in your LibreOffice document via the fontname in this way (Registered features, a-e (OpenType 1.8.4) - Typography | Microsoft Docs)
