2015-10-27 13:02:09 +0200 Marcada como a melhor resposta How can I create a macro to set default margins?

I like having half-inch (1.27 cm) margins on everything I write, but Writer provides no designated facility to make this the default. I don't like to change the default page style, because that had some unwanted side effects when I tried it. I tried recording a macro and setting the margins to what I want, but when I ran it all it did was open the Page Style dialog.

2014-01-10 17:16:20 +0200 Resposta comentada Why does LibreOffice replace Alegreya Sans' curly quote with its regular quote?

Juan Pablo del Peral of Huerta Tipografica just emailed me saying that he's updated the font to remove this replacement table. So, problem solved.

2013-12-31 03:40:29 +0200 Resposta comentada Why does LibreOffice replace Alegreya Sans' curly quote with its regular quote?

That's what I'm saying—Huerta Tipografica's designer said that he preferred it that way, and that I could fix the problem by disabling the OpenType feature "Standard Ligatures", and I'm asking how to do that.

2013-12-31 02:04:13 +0200 Resposta comentada Why does LibreOffice replace Alegreya Sans' curly quote with its regular quote?

Before I read your answer, I had contacted Huerta Tipografica, and they had confirmed this. Is there any way to disable this feature in LibreOffice?

2013-12-29 03:56:48 +0200 Perguntou Why does LibreOffice replace Alegreya Sans' curly quote with its regular quote?

I am writing a document in the font Alegreya Sans. When I enter an apostrophe, it at first shows up as a curly apostrophe (U+2019 RIGHT SINGLE QUOTATION MARK). But as soon as I enter another character (as in a contraction), the apostrophe changes to a straight quote (U+0027 APOSTROPHE). This can only be saved by entering the symbol manually via the "Insert Special Characters" dialog.

This does not occur with any other fonts, only Alegreya Sans. I don't believe it's a bug in the font; the font's straight and curly quotes are at the correct Unicode points.

2013-11-30 05:14:19 +0200 Perguntou Why do I receive an error every time I add a database entry?

This is my first time using LibreOffice Base. I've created a database with all needed fields, and put in the first entry. But if I try to enter any more entries, an error message appears. Here's the message that it gives:

Error inserting the new record

SQL Status: 22001 Error code: -124

Value too long in statement [INSERT INTO "Fields" ( "Codename","ID","Latest CyanogenMod version","Name","Network Type","Official port","Platform","Replicant support","Vendor") VALUES ( ?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?)]

I notice that the field names do not appear in the order in which I inserted them.

2013-10-18 00:34:49 +0200 Marcada como a melhor resposta How can I change the font for symbols in a formula?

Compare the plus sign with the dots around it (the one I don't want) to the one before "27a2d" (the actual plus sign of the font I'm using, which I do want; that part isn't a formula object but normal text). The minus signs and plus or minus are also affected, but at least I can paste those in manually. Even so, it's an inconvenience.

Example plus sign problem

2013-10-18 00:32:12 +0200 Marcada como a melhor resposta How can I safely remove thumbnails from .odt files?

Following up on a previous question of mine, I would like to know how to remove the large thumbnail from .odt files created in LibreOffice. I don't find this feature useful at all; Trisquel doesn't display them, and when I used Windows it didn't identify the document well enough.

When I rename the .odt file to a .zip archive, extract its contents, delete either the thumbnail or the folder that contains it, and recompile the file (or whatever the proper term for that is) the resulting ODT is irreparably corrupted.

2013-10-18 00:31:06 +0200 Marcada como a melhor resposta How can I prevent LibreOffice from offering fonts not on my system?

I recently installed GNU TeXmacs and removed it immediately thereafter. The uninstallation did not remove the fonts that the program had installed, so I removed them manually, but LibreOffice is still seeing them and it's annoying to have to scroll through them. No other programs are seeing the fonts, and this problem was not fixed by reinstalling LibreOffice.

2013-10-18 00:28:36 +0200 Marcada como a melhor resposta How can I apply columns to a table only?

I have a very long table that I want to put into two columns to save space. But when I select the table with CTRL-A-A and go to every column menu listed in the relevant help topic, the only available option is to apply the columns to the whole page, which I don't want to do. Inserting a frame onto the table simply made it disappear, and I couldn't undo the action for some reason.

I'm already aware of the solution of unchecking "Apply numbering" in the Autocorrect options. But how can I prevent Writer from deleting the tab I insert before the number?

For example, I press tab, enter a number, a period, and the text after it. Then I press enter and LibreOffice deletes the tab. How can I prevent this?

2013-10-18 00:21:54 +0200 Marcada como a melhor resposta Can the "Insert Special Character" dialog be made easier?

I'm a recent convert from Word, and I love most of the features of LO. However, I would like to request some changes to the "Insert Special Character" dialog. In Word a character isn't entered until the user double-clicks (which I like for the sake of confirmation), and furthermore the user can click off the window, continue editing the document, and insert a special character in a completely different location. I don't like having to open the dialog every time I need a new character, which can happen a lot in my case. At least, could the user be given the power to edit the characters they are inserting more freely, rather than just deleting them all at once?

2013-10-18 00:21:44 +0200 Marcada como a melhor resposta Why does LibreOffice produce such bloated .odt files?

The size of a six-page .docx file created with Microsoft Word 2010: 9.98 kilobytes

The size of a .odt file with identical content created with Microsoft Word 2010: 15.4 kilobytes

The size of a .odt file with identical content created with LibreOffice 4.0: 30.0 kilobytes

A smaller file, only a page long, results in a size of 6kB when saved from Word but of about 15kB when saved from LibreOffice writer. What's going on here? Is this a bug?

2013-10-18 00:20:22 +0200 Marcada como a melhor resposta Why can't I install on Trisquel 5.5?

On Trisquel 5.5, I extracted the downloaded installation files to a folder on my desktop. Here's my console session, following the instructions given in the LibreOffice readme.

root@linus:~# cd /home/myusername/Desktop/LibO_3.6.4.3_Linux_x86-64_install-deb_en-US

root@linus:/home/myusername/Desktop/LibO_3.6.4.3_Linux_x86-64_install-deb_en-US# dpkg -i *.deb

dpkg: error processing *.deb (--install):

cannot access archive: No such file or directory

Errors were encountered while processing: *.deb

I can't understand why this would happen. Of course there's such a file or directory!

2013-10-18 00:03:30 +0200 Marcada como a melhor resposta How can I remove a footer from the first page only?

Having printed six copies of the first page of my document, I discovered that I needed to add page numbers to the other three pages. But adding page numbers to all pages would push the contents of the first page onto the second page. I was able to prevent the content overflow by simply giving the footer zero spacing, but for future reference, can the first page's footer be removed entirely?
