For years I have used MS Word 2007-365 as default setting when saving text documents in Writer. After updating to latest version of Libre Office default is now Open Document .xml. Unable to change this. Even if I manually change the document save setting through “save as” it still saves as an .xml document. Have tried other options but only .odt and .xml are available. Have tried all means to change the default (through tools/options/load/save etc) but makes no difference. See attachment. The default shown remains Word 2007-365 but the document can’t actually be saved in this format. Have uninstalled latest Libre Office version and re-installed previous version. Problem remains. Would much appreciate advice on this.

To which version? There are many “latest” LO updates lurking around there, depending on OS (I assume you’re under Window$, but which one?) and update method.
