Alternative to 2 column format

Is there an alternative to 2 Column format?
Maybe (2 column/1 row) table?
Suggested alternative?
Thanks, Tracey
There has been a bug in the 2 Column format that has been known for over 10 years:
tdf#157727 [2023-10-12] duplicate of…
tdf#45261 [2012-01-26) and neither have anyone assigned to correct it.
I found that 83% of columns are correctly formatted and 17% are not.

I had a look at your reduced sample in tdf#157727. This document is entirely direct formatted. There not even any use of paragraph styles which also exist in Word.

Contrary to common belief, achieving desired layout and formatting with direct formatting requires super expert guru skills, and even so with graet pain and sweat.

Behaviour in chap. 46 is exactly as expected because you erroneously added Keep with next paragraph and Do not split paragraph on those ending up in second column. These attributes create a “huge” atomic bloc which disturbs even distribution. The result is nevertheless correct. The block has been put in a column and the rest in the other column. You can only blame yourself for both parts not having the same length because you overrode the automatic algorithm.

Since your document is not styled, it can’t be fixed centrally by playing with the styles.

There is no bug regarding your document. My best advice is to recommend you read the Writer Guide and learn to style your documents. There is no bug, only a lack of understanding of provided features.

If I missed the Bugzilla update to bug#45261 prior to the time of this post, I would like to thank everyone that has been patient and tolerant with my post (I can imagine people shaking their heads and rolling their eyes  ).

This long standing “bug” appears to have been resolved with: LibreOffice Version: 7.6.3.2 as my document on longer displays text as noted in #45261 & #157727 (without the use of styles).
I also look forward to learning how to use styles effectively.
Thank you developers and debuggers!, Tracey
