Announcing Stock Picker Extension for Calc

All,
Stock Picker is a extension that pulls stock data form Yahoo into a Calc Spreadsheet.
Simple to use i.e. =STOCKDATA(“ED”,“2026-01-01”,today())

Grab it here:

BTW, Extension was created using Claude Code.

prompted by a complete spreadsheet noob.

Hi @davidjayjackson, do you have a file with an example of use?

Enter =STOCKDATA(A1;B1;C1) as an array formula with A1 having a stock symbol and B1;C1 with a pair of dates.

There is a read.me in the GITHUB listing (where it comes from). It is as shown above but also notes that A1 can be a cell reference, and the dates can be formulas, such as TODAY() or TODAY()-7.

BTW, since he rewrote it (YAHOO dropped the API he used in the original version), it now gets the data from the YAHOO chart data. The problem is that YAHOO does not have charts for options.

One not the basic function is =STOCKDATA(“symbol”,“start_date”,“end_date”)
The function by default just “dumps” the stock data into a table, i.e. it is not dynamic.

“symbol”, How do I know this option?

google search at least ? :expressionless:
